Hmm...interesting. I wonder what, if anything, will come out of the lawsuit. Strict liability could be an issue, like it was for the Derrick Rose situation. Still, it's Duke, and I don't expect much anything to happen. Rogue...Jedi

 

**** the NCAA and **** their little rules to protect "amateurism".

It's a terrible rule, but it is a rule. The NCAA needs some serious reexamination.

 

I had my rant about the NCAA on Facebook about a week and a half ago. I'm absolutely sick and tired of an organization that continues to go completely insane over things that should be relatively minor, and while claiming to "emphasize academic excellence" promptly gives the middle finger along with a big "**** you" to academics. As much as the NCAA looks at high school academics (which it should), for it to effectively announce that no actual work is required in athletes' "courses" in college is beyond despicable. As a teacher, I have nothing positive to say about the NCAA and am doubting I ever will.

 

Was surprised this wasn't upped with the news of Calhoun retiring.

 

I thought about it while I was at work today, but forgot to do it. He's certainly a character.

 

He was certainly a good coach but I'm kinda glad to see him retire.

 

It was his time, with as many games as he's missed recently and his medical issues.

 

So I guess this means other schools can hope to make inroads recruiting at juvenile correctional facilities?

 

Gillispie's resigned as Texas Tech's coach. While I'm not crazy about him as a coach, I do wish him well with his recent health problems.


Same goes for Roy Williams. He's out of the hospital after surgery to remove a tumor from a kidney.

 

Given everything else that was surrounding Gillispie, it was pretty much inevitable. The health problems were just the icing on that particular cake.

Hopefully Roy Williams is doing better.

He'll be sorely missed. Really curious/worried to see if UConn can keep it going without a legend like him on the sideline. Between this and no postseason, its going to be a particularly long, cold winter in Storrs.

 

Yeah, Gillispie's resignation doesn't exactly come as a surprise, considering he was supposed to be "stress free." I don't think it's possible to coach a college basketball team, even in the off-season, and be stress free.

 

McClain's not crazy about Roy Williams as a coach? Interesting.

In all seriousness, I do wish both Williams and Gillespie the best, health-wise.

 

Don't make me post Dancin' Roy again.

I probably would have it on tonight, if I were going to be home.

 

As a Vegas native, I love me some college hoops...

 

I'm excited. I loves me some Aaron Craft. And, I still loves me the gimmick of college basketball on an aircraft carrier.

 

I'm really excited for that one. It'll be really cool, I think, and not a complete gimmick. Give it a few years.

 

And, we won't get the game tonight. Too much slickness/condensation on the court. Drat

 

I'm sort of happy, so I can watch it. I'm doing an overnight event at one of my jobs.
