Considering that it was only 2 episodes, I was willing to forgive it.
Hour 16

As Jack Bauer learns the test results of his exposure to the biological weapon, Allison Taylor works to help the FBI ensure a takedown of the Starkwood complex. Larry Moss leads a team there after Tony Almeida provides a helpful lead, and the FBI attempts to find and remove the weapon of mass destruction.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Jack is infected!
2) Tony escapes.
3) ITS A TRAP.

I think that this and the next episode could have been condensed, they feel too boring with out Jack.

 

Hour 17

While Tony Almeida manages to infiltrate the Starkwood compound, Jack Bauer starts showing symptoms of his infection. Meanwhile, Olivia Taylor has to prevent reporter Ken Dellao from leaking the Starkwood story. Finally, Jonas Hodges brings up his first demand to President Allison Taylor.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Tony heads into the building.
2) Jack shows symptoms.
3) Alison is blackmailed by missiles.

This episode also felt a tad boring and could be condensed with the previous one for time.

President Taylor meets with Jonas Hodges to discuss his plans to be more involved in the country's national security. Jack Bauer's condition continues to worsen as he meets with his daughter. Tony Almeida averts the Starkwood threat, but a new one arises, which Larry Moss discovers too late.

After hearing the news of Larry Moss' death, Renee and Jack head out to the field, not knowing that a traitor is in their midst. President Allison Taylor transfers Jonas Hodges to FBI for further interrogation, but he is offered another option by a disguised associate. After bidding goodbye to her father, Kim prepares to return home to her daughter, Teri.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Ok, let me get this straight.
2) Tony went from being dead, to becoming a zombie, to being a baddie, to become an undercover agent, to becoming a baddie again.
3) I think the last two cancel out and made the first 18 episodes of this season pointless.

I loved Jack's "ITSA TRAP" and the ending. Good episode.

 

Is this the one where Jack realizes Tony is a traitor, but goes into convulsions that prevent him from telling anyone as Tony looks on? That was an awesome scene.

And a question: given that Hodges "is offered another option by a disguised associate", do we ever know for sure that it was the killer Olivia arranged for that actually killed Hodges? Maybe she's sitting in jail for nothing.

 

Hour 20

Jack Bauer reels from Tony Almeida's betrayal as he and Renee Walker regroup to prevent further attacks. Olivia and President Allison Taylor disagree on a pardon for Jonas Hodges. Almeida and Cara Bowden are able to convince Alan Wilson and his conspirators to take action. Chloe O'Brian reenters the picture to reboot CTU.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Jonas Hodges is still alive.
2) Jack has some racial profiling fun.
3) CTU is back!

The last six episodes could have made or broke the season. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that they were up to the standards that they could have been. I wish more things happened in this episode.

 

Hour 21

Jonas Hodges prepares to enter witness protection, even as Olivia Taylor sets in motion a plan to eliminate him. Jack and Renee attempt to track down Jibraan Al-Zarian, the innocent man whom Tony plans to set up as a scapegoat for an impending terrorist attack.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Jonas Hodges asplodes
2) Jack yells at some people.
3) Tony does evil things.

Didn't care for this episode. Felt it moved too slowly for such a late episode in the season. However, I did like the mosque guy.

 

Hour 22

Kim Bauer arrives at the airport to return home to Los Angeles, but grows worried that she may not be safe. The FBI races to prevent Tony Almeida and Cara Bowden's attack on the DC subway system, while at the White House, Olivia Taylor desperately tries to cover her tracks after the Justice Department begins an investigation into Jonas Hodges' murder.


Important stuff that happens:
1) The subways of DC are safe again.
2) Jack punches Tony more then necessary.
3) Kim sits next to the ONLY TWO PEOPLE IN THE DAMNED AIRPORT THAT WANT TO KILL HER.

Pretty good episode, I wished that they held on to the canister until the finale though. I thought the Kim capture thing happened too fast and Jack should have freaked out more.

 

Hour 23

Jack Bauer is forced to help Tony escape from custody, only to find Tony plans to use Jack to reconstitute the pathogen. Aaron Pierce and Ethan Kanin work together and discover Olivia's role in Hodges' murder. Kim Bauer takes down her captors, and works with Renee Walker to find her father.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Jack is dissected by Tony.
2) Jack stabs some doctors.
3) Sunrise!

Slow until the end, but the second half of the finale made up for it.

 

Hour 24

Presented with the evidence of Olivia's actions, President Allison Taylor is forced to make a decision between her family and the Presidency. Thanks to Kim Bauer, Janis, Renee and Chloe are able to save Jack and arrest Tony before he can kill Alan Wilson. With Wilson refusing to talk and Jack about to die, the fight is no longer in the field, it's for the hearts and souls of Jack and Renee.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Tony is captured again.
2) Aaron saves the day at the White House.
3) Jack gets some help from his daughter.

Solid finale and a pretty decent season overall.

At the United Nations in New York City, President Allison Taylor and President Omar Hassan of the Islamic Republic are putting the finishing touches on an historic peace treaty. With a new lease on life, Jack Bauer plans on moving back to Los Angeles with his daughter Kim and granddaughter Teri, but his plans are put on hold when an old informant comes to him with information on an assassination plot against Hassan.


Important stuff that happens:
1) Jack is a grandpa!
2) Jack axe-murders someone!
3) Helicopter explosion!

Great premiere. Usually the best openers have something happening, which this does a lot of.

 

Now that the season is over, we can move on to season 8 and look at it in retrospect.
