From bad to worse. This really seemed to be the life of a soldier. Apparently the tentacular beast wasn't a beast at all. At least not in the traditional sense of being an animal. Instead it was a root type creature, that was at least capable of attacking. That aspect of the thing was very much in evidence by the rather sudden appearance of numerous stalks around Alec's feet, not to mention a karking lot everywhere else. Where's a bloody weed whacker when you need one? As at least a couple of the "tentacles" reached for Mal's feet he was forced away from the now entangled Mando'a. Cara took it upon herself to take care of that situation, and Mal had other orders anyway.

Nill's actual orders didn't sink into the Stormtroopers mind until after he had started weaving through the morass that was now guarding the cave entrance, having shouldered his pack before moving forward. Well, pretty much everywhere. Damn you droid! I hate that milking Chiss. Apparently the YVH had not picked up on the rather ample amount of tension between the two of them.

Motioning for Seth to stay behind him, praying to whatever gods might deign to listen that the pain in the choobie would actually listen for once, Mal sprinted for the cave entrance. Dodging, jumping and the occasional sudden stop and duck as a tentacle suddenly attempted to sweep into his upper body parts was made into a vastly more challenging task by the rather weighty pack that was less than evenly shouldered. It wasn't that Judder hadn't done things like this in the past, but the fact that he hadn't had to do anything quite this intensive in over a year. Training for it is one thing, but when you can actually be killed? Entirely different kettle of Numerian Tuna.

Some of the stalks disintegrated before they could actually do anything, as Null managed to blast them with his rather large guns. Others, well Mal took a bit of a beating and would most definitely be bruised after this whole fiasco was over.

Arriving at the end of the obstacle course for the moment, Mal drew his blaster and edged as slowly as he dared into the cave. Having no clue what was waiting for him, and being somewhat exposed was how the Imp liked it. That was what he'd been doing with most of his life. It was who he was, but it was also where the lack of edge could get him killed. Waiting for some boogey monster to jump out and sink it's teeth into his rather battered form, Mal edged until he was ten or so feet into the cave.

Isis' lightsaber, combined with the weakening by Alec's crushgaunt, severed the root entirely. Nill poured fire from his arms at seperate roots, a missile emerging from his chest to blow apart a third. "Retreat into the cave, my friends." The droid didn't even consider that his commands earlier had failed to specify that Alec needed saving - his soft logic assumed that they would themselves decide to. A perfect exercise in reverse psychology - getting them to work together.

The tunnel beneath them suddenly rendered his sensors null, a jamming signal of incredible power cutting across his sensors. Oddly, the channel sending the recording continued. Nill absently wondered why, and added a touch of insistency to his voice as more tentacles appeared, whipping at them rather than grabbing. "Fall back."

It took him a moment to realise they were being pushed back now, but in that moment two particularly large roots hit out at the cave roof, dropping debris down upon them. Among that debris dropped a human-sized Killik, landing upon Cara's head. Stones were falling, and Nill was busy pushing away roots, backing into the cave. The droid suddenly paused, and realise the incline after the cave entrance was far steeper than he'd anticipated. The ceiling was still collapsing, and then Nill lost his footing, falling onto his back and sliding into the darkness past Seth and Mal.

    Cave, Shadow

Isis followed Alec into the cave, covering their rear. The cave itself was a very typical rendition; dank, dark and surprising. The first was the realization that the group was being herded. From what she could see through the permeating darkness, Nill had come to the very same understanding. Before either of them could alert the team, two arms struck the rocky ceiling, dislodging large shards of stone. Simultaneously, Nill stepped back, and a large Killik fell from the ceiling onto Cara.

Nill, not having accounted for a sudden decline in the floor grade, was sent plummeting backwards and the Killik knocked the Hapan flat. Isis took two steps toward and lit her lightsaber. With a quick twist of the blade, the Killik was beheaded. Isis kicked the body off of Cara and hoisted her to her feet. With the cave collapsing and the tentacles still at their backs, Isis made another quick judgment call. She said, ?You?ve got a choice. Either follow me after Nill, or face your mortality.?

The morbidity of the situation was apparent, but that was no reason to give up. Either direction they went, they faced nigh insurmountable obstacles. So, Isis had picked the direction that followed their guide. She strode to where the floor slanted most down and she could still stand, and then stepped off.

As the ceiling collapsed, another pair of giant arms ascending from it something hit her. Her head felt the impact and the blood left, her visions becoming blurry for a moment. As she went down, she already realized that what had hit her was a moving, hissing something. Not a rock.

Sidearm, don´t die without a fight.

Her head screamed, but her body was lost in the confusion of pain for a moment to long. Then the Jedi was above her and the body that had been on her vanished. The glowing blade of the Jedi Isis illuminated the dark and Isis, her savior helped her to the feet.

Not unlike my Queen-Mother. A Jedi.

"Thank you." She she said, as the Jedi turned to the other side of the cave again. The droid was gone and a huge hole was where he had stood.

?You?ve got a choice. Either follow me after Nill, or face your mortality.? The Jedi bravely shouted. And before she could understand what the woman meant she stepped off and let herself fall into the void the droid had just vanished to.

"Facing it all the time." She only hissed and looked at the others. Grabbing her rifle into both hands she sighed and watched the tentacles whirl behind her. With a nod to the rest of the team, she followed Isis Stele into the deep.

She has saved my life. Why not follow her lead. Nothing to win up here.

As the thought crossed her mind she tried to slide down the wall of the opening and hoped it would lead her into something else then eternal darkness.

Apparently the Hapan wasn't the only one that had been trying to help him. Once he tried pulling free, a certain bar of light came into view and sliced into the tentacle that held him with Cara's blaster bolts. Looks like Isis decided to have a hand in this bit of rescuing as well. Alec dropped - something that puzzled him cause he had sworn that his jetpack had been on a moment ago - and when he had been expecting to crash into the ground he was instead gently lowered.

Apparently Jedi were useful at other things rather then just opening bottles with their minds.

The weirdness of his rescue only lasted for a moment as the planet was in the middle of trying to kill him. Alec didn't think, just immediately got back up to his feet and ran towards the cave that was their designated rally point. Alec brought his shotgun into his hands and, after a quick switch of the magazines, added a couple shells into the mix.

His shotgun had been loaded with beskar-made slugs, but that had been before he switched the mags. The magazine that was now loaded into his shotgun contained what could be best described as miniature grenades. He had needed some extra help with these shells as there was some electronics that he needed help from his father to install. Those electronics being what allowed the grenade shell to arm once they left the barrel of his shotgun. Once they hit a target boom. Not as powerful as a real live grenade but still had enough to probably blow a few chunks off these tentacles as he fired at them.

The cave was dark when they reached it and Alec had activated his helmet's night vision once he entered. The roots were still behind them, doing their best to try and kill them. It was when they started slamming into the ceiling of the cave did Alec realize that they were going to have more to worry about...such as the Killik that landed on Cara.

Alec had turned and went for his Verp - the grenade shells in his shotgun had a chance of killing Cara as well as the bug - and brought it up to point it at the Killik just as the thing suddenly lost his head to Isis's lightsaber. That was one problem gone, now it was just the roots that were trying to crush them in their newly found bit of sanctuary. The answer, strangely enough, came form Nill. Alec only had time to see the droid sliding away from view, but Cara and Isis soon followed after it.

Not like we have anywhere else to go, Alec figured before holstering his Verp and following after the group, running past Seth and Mal[/b] before going down the incline, his night vision still turned on and would hopefully point Alec to the dangers that may be below.

The ensuing minutes, or rather seconds in reality, they rushed into the cave mouth as the tentacular roots whipped and snapped at their heels. As if we were being herded instead of actually fleeing for their lives. Most interesting...but for later! he furiously typed with his free hand as he saw the cave entrance crumble behind him and a Killik fall onto the Hapans head.

Reaching for his blaster, while putting away the datapad again and making sure not to drop the captured root, he just cleared the holster from his struggles after Isis cleared the bug with her lightsaber. He had to hand it to her though, when it came to Jedi one liners before dramatic action such as chasing after Nill down a steep incline or drop off, she had it down pat. That or else she had been allowed to watch to many holo-dramas but he wasn't about to bring up that posibility.

Next Alec the Mando followed after, "Might as well make the most of it...right men?" Dropping his captured root tentacle to the ground he stepped on coiling the end around one hand before moving it to the edge. "For mass, gravity, equilibrium, and the laws of physics...don't let me down now!"

Hopping on with a small kick he slid down the incline after the retreating backs of the fellow teammates, he couldn't help but let out a 'ya-ha-ha-hooooo' as he raced after them while experimenting with shifting his managable weight to change directions. It sure had been a long time since he had been able to pull a stunt like this, perhaps too long.

The Chiss had moved into the cave with Judder as the droid had intelligently pointed out that that seemed like the only reasonable solution at the moment. It was only when he had reached the entrance did he notice that Nephrite had fallen behind, which was very out of character for him, and had been tied up, no pun intended, with one of the steadily emerging tentacles.

The Jedi and Hapan had saved him, the Jedi proving her worth more and more at each passing second. It was now that he realized that the smartest thing to have done, if all the factions had had force users, was to send them down here for they would be able to handle the subterranean terrors alot better than the regular sentients. However, Force-users tended to be the back stabbing, power crazed or too sage-like freaks that history had shown them to be and that mission would probably have ended with disaster. Though Seth could not deny her usefulness, she was as much of a help as a threat and he would have to work out some way for her to be eliminated.

Events advanced at the battle pace that most of the veterans probably had grown used to and as droid Nill had slipped back into the darkness, Seth, who had been the closest along with Judder, was the first to leap after him, showing no hesitation. This was not to be taken as him trying to save the droid out of his own self sacrifice as his last heroic deed, but more of him knowing that the situation near the cave entrance was worsening and the smarter choice would be to move on into the cave. Similar to the plan he had already suggested.

Things kept getting progressively worse. Nill came into the tunnel, and rather thoroughly fell flat on his tin metal tushy and slid gods alone knew where. This was quickly followed by Seth, leaving Mal there to make sure everyone got in without a problem. Hope he lands on something with teeth. At least there was little time to wait, as all of the others ran helter skelter in. Isis was next, going rather bonzai on them, saving the Hapan witch from killik meet head synrdome, followed by diving after the previous two with some gibberish. The now de-killiked Cara went after quickly, followed by a rather nonchalant Alec. Then went the Drall with a rather bizzare little war cry.

For Mal to follow was all that was left. Still, he hesitated as this felt like some irrevocable step. Something told him that to go down this tube was to seal his death, and that there was no way he would ever see the sky again. Never go home, never see his family again. Looking back at the now dead killik, the storm trooper walked over to it for a moment and just looked. Chitin covered the creature, it's color extremely dakr blue nearing to black. Over all it looked like a nightmare come to swallow any who came near to it. Having had enough of bugs in general, Judder crushed its skull beneath his boot.

Looking up it became exactly how obvious it was that there was absolutely no other way to go but down. I guess I have been doomed to die then. So be it. Turning back to the floor that was more slide than anything else, Mal resecured his pack and slid down into the abyss of darkness before him, nightvision showing nothing but gloom below him.

They all fell, Nill falling faster because of his weight. The darkness seemed cloying, deeper than anything they'd seen. The ground was rocky, and sharp in places. Drigg's arm was suddenly bent at an unpleasant angle - painfully so - and Cara, beneath the scrapes and the bruises, suddenly realised that she'd been bit on the head. If she touched the part, Cara would find that it was a small bite - the full bite avoided by Isis quick reactions. Her mind began to darken, and then lighten. Suddenly, Cara couldn't feel the pain of falling down the slope, at all - just a numb sensation, as if the movement was happening to someone elses body. The droplets of venom was filling her mind, shutting down parts of her body.

Suddenly the ledge cut, and light became evident. Nill crashed down into that glowing, landing on masses of metal. They were massive wires, rolling around each other, leading into the tunnels - a veritable underground labyrinth. Nill felt something shift in his neck, and sparks spitting past his photoreceptors.

    "Seth, assistance please."

He was the only member of the team with the skills to repair him. In the minds of Isis and, oddly, Cara and Mal's, a voice rippled. "Finally. You're here. Come this way." Suddenly, all metal in the area suddenly was yanked towards the wires, as if magnetised. Smaller items could be held onto, but those in metal armour found themselves suddenly pinned down. Plasteel metal was unaffected, but Mal was in no position to act - the speakers within helmets emitting a massive wave of static - the jamming had intensified to create a whine that was so sharp it would permanently deafened anyone with a helmet on in seconds.

To make things more complex, gravity seized at them all - apart from Alec and Nill, who were pinned down - and yanked at them hard, pulling them towards the ceiling. Alec had the unpleasant sensation of his body being yanked up, and his armour down, in particular. Nill focused his processors, snapping out a hand and grabbing at Seth in response with bone-crushing force.

It was as if something had picked them out, and had decided to crush them with all its resources.

Things were getting a great deal more complicated for them.

She felt the bite, holding her hand to her head and all pain vanishing. All feeling actually drawn out of her body. And then there was this voice.

"Finally. You're here. Come this way."
Looking up, confused by the sudden change in her body she stumbled. Was it telepathy? Or the poison in her system? Or the force? She had heard of Mother Tenel Ka reaching out to agents through the force.

    Come this way?
Sounds like something a cat would say to a mouse. Suddenly she felt the grab of a magnetic wave draining her rifle. Done in large part of non-metallic components it was only a slight pressure. He sidegun though pressed at her tail. Probably hurting her, if there would have any hurt existed for her anymore.

Stumbling, she saw the others drawn to the ground. She herself was carried up instead. Failing gravity. Her body seemed to be drawn up. Her mind, eased from the poison, decided to turn. And so she did, kicking herself of the wall to find some hold in the ceiling. It didn´t matter, probably. For the poison spreading in her would be fatal probably. And she would die. On Shadow. The planet seemed to have a desire for revenge. Who could deny that.

With the exception of perhaps Mal, Alec had to be doing the best out of the rest during their descent into the depths of Shadow. With his night vision Alec was able to see plenty of obstacles that sought to add some injury during their descent and was able to avoid them. Any that he couldn't he just shrugged off with the assistance of his armor. The same couldn't be said for some of the other members of their group. The Mandalorian had glanced left and right to keep track of everyone else and he grimaced when he saw the awkward bend that Driggs had received for his arm.

Fortunately, light was at the end of this dark tunnel and Alec shut off his night vision when their descent finally halted.

    "Seth, assistance please."

Nill looked as if he had been banged up a little during the fall. Alec couldn't help but shake his head a little at that; looks like the laminanium armor wasn't as great as he had assumed it to be if it couldn't protect the droid from a little fall. Like he had thought before, why invest in a metal that repairs itself when you could have one that never gets damaged?

His mind was wandering again now that there wasn't anything to kill. Alec looked around, wanting to focus on their surrounding area...which was interesting. They seemed to have found themselves in some kind of labyrinth, tunnels going this way and that and, another weird thing, massive wires filling each one. The Mando allowed himself to groan quietly at an unpleasant thought, that Shadow may actually have technology within that could turn it into another death machine like Centerpoint.

There was no time that thought though. The metal that was within their surrounding area was suddenly pulled towards the massive wires and before Alec could wonder what this may mean for himself, he found himself pinned as well. There was a screeching in Alec's helmet and the Mando growled at the punishment to his ears before shutting off his helmet comms, leaving a ringing sensation in his ears.

Shaaaaab, Alec summed up their situation as he did his best to look around. Him and Nill were the only two that were pinned, apparently the metal that made up Mal's armor not affected by magnetism. The others were floating and Alec realized a mix was happening to him. His armor pushed against him yet his body pushed against the downward force in an attempt to join the others that floated above. Unpleasant to say the least. Alec still had his shotgun in his hands, but between the weapon's seemingly sudden increase in weight as well as the weight of his hands themselves concealed in their gauntlets, Alec struggled to keep the weapon from escaping him.

Not taking my gun, Alec thought fiercely, clinging to that thought as tight as his weapon as he fought to keep hold. I like this gun. He was treating this like another little battle for him to live through and that helped fuel him with plenty of energy as he struggled against the opposing forces that seemed to want to crush him.

Gonna have to do better then this if you want my gun. A Mando always kept his weapon with him.

OOC: just a quick note, was talking with sinre last night... everyone else supposed to be ON the ceiling, not floating towards it.
think of it like a hard grav shift, if you will. and alec and nil are pinned against said shift due to the magnetic issues.

as to why mal doesn't have the same issue... well, his armor's not metal. i'll be coming around to check on people, due to the fact that i'm one of the few that would have combat medics training (at least a bit), and really came through this the best save maybe isis.

ooc: I described my char as pinned to the ceiling, so can we walk around there? Or how do you want to come to us? Is it reversed gravity? I don´t understand now.

And Trimaj, with all due respect, but Jedi Knights, Hapes Spies and Mandalorian Commandos surely have some medical training.;)

OOC: yea, we're able to walk around on the ceiling. think like regular gravity, only in a different direction.

the other comment... well, alec is a bit... stuck at the moment, and cara's a mite poisoned. as we don't know what's happened to isis yet, can't really say there. so ATM mal's in the best positioning to offer said training... t'was all i really meant. poor word choice on my part.

OOC: Ok, Trimaj, that clears it up. I indeed misunderstood the whole situation. Thanks!

    And here is my retcon.

    Cara Ta´Manis
    Shadow, Cave Depths

She gripped the ceiling, only to find surprise spread in her dampened mind. She could walk. Stand. Move. Like a reversal of gravity. The ceiling making them drawn to it´s center instead of the Moon´s core. Shaking her head, she stayed nevertheless close to the ground. If it reversed again, she would need to grab something to not fall down. "What about these wires?" she only asked. Obviously they were the most likely source of magnetism. Her head still felt dizzy. The lack of pain was too comfortable for her taste.

Rubbing his head with his free hand he groggily sat up, there was an intense pain in his head. "Uh, what happened?" he quietly asked as he tried to move his other hand to find most likely where the pain truly was coming from.

His arm was bent at the elbow forty degrees, unfortunatly it was bent forty degrees in the opposite direction of a normal bend. Reaching around he went to pick up his pistol off of the ground that had fallen free as he was falling apart when something weird happened. The planets gravity reversed, as he floated up in the air while his hand held on to a firmly planted weapon that slowly like a lead weight began to rise with him as his body inverted. "This is awkward." He grunted through gritted teeth.

Then he felt all the little objects in his pouches tugging, some up some down depending on their makeup. He let out startled scream of "NNNOOOOOOO!" as one pouch opened and his small lightsaber and main torquewrench went flying out and toward the ground. He released the gun and grabbed on with his good hand tugging with the force as well, his other arm flailing and twisting in the air like a busted marionets limb. The blade activated causing it to gouge the ground, true ground, as it then rose to him as he fell until his fingers wrapped around it before the new gravity direction yanked him and now his lightsaber to the ceiling where he stood for a moment. Shutting off the blade and pulling it down to lock securely to his belt where it pulled up obstinsibly.

Closing his eyes, the ruse now over, he used the force to move his arm bones back into the right position with a series of ugly resounding snaps, pops, and grinding noises before he used the tentacle, which had probably been the cause of the injury in the first place, to wrap around his neck back around his arm and then around his chest making an impromtu shoulder splint and strap to keep it immobalized while he used the force to help the damaged ligiments and muscles mend.

Slowly with a few tears squeezing out of his eyes from the pain he looked around at the other members of the team, most on the ceiling a couple on the ground. He waited, that was all he could do, for their reaction and what would happen next.

On the way down the tilted floor, which was definitely not a pleasant trip by any means, he could hear the others banging into things. Overall the trooper was very glad for his helmet, as the nightvision that came along with it allowed him to see quite pleasantly in the dark. Due to this he avoided almost all of the rammables. Those he didn't, well a blow dispersed across a wider area may only leave a bruise so physically he came through battered but no worse of the wear.

What DID cause an issue was the feedback that started as he neared the bottom (although he wasn't aware of that at the time). It got progressively worse until he simply had to shutdown the speaker system, which left Mal with a rather... muted aspect to his senses. This was less than pleasing.

The landing was a bit hard, but at least Mal managed to avoid hitting anyone else. Although kneeing Seth in the back wouldn't ahve bothered him in the least. Ah well, can't have everything. As he started to rise, and take stock gravity switched to somewhere else, while a rather magnetic force pulled at everything magnetic he had on his person.

Thanking his lucky stars that the vibroblade in his boot was locked in place as it was tugging towards the "floor", Mal flailed about briefly as everything twisted in some rather unsavory fashions. It was all he could do to avoid upchucking inside the helmet. Maybe I'm not as capable as I used to be... You see, he wasn't aware of the loss of "the Edge" that had kept him alive previously. Judder had been trained for this, a sudden grav shift, yet here he was flailing like someone who knew nothing about the situation. He was so distracted that he failed to register what Driggs had done, and the bright light of the lightsaber flaring to life.

Hitting the "ceiling" was vastly more painful than he'd expected as a result of his loss of control. Bonejarring. Spinerattling.

Shaking the stars from his vision he "heard" something, although there was no sound anywhere. Go where? I'm on the milking ceiling! Altough in this instance it had becomme the de facto floor. Not trusting it quite yet, Mal took stock of himself before standing up. Legs, check. Arms... eh, bruised. Torso? Damn, I'm gonna be sore in the morning. Head? Clearing, so I don't think I have a concussion. Having taken stock, and noting his blaster was doing its damned best to make it's way out of its holster, the trooper raised himself to a knee.

What was visible was not... quite what he was expecting. For instance, Alec and Nill were rather effectively pinned to the "ceiling" that had been the floor. Magnetic something or another. Explains a bit, especially the feedback problems. Now how the hell are we gonna get them DOWN? ... Damn, glad my armor's not metal. That must be unpleasant. Deciding to save that for after checking on the rest he was just in time to witness Norghar fixing his arm.Oh yes... Bright light. Lightsaber? Another Force user probably? Useful bit of info that. Instead of making an issue out of the revelation, "Driggs, if you know anything about medicine go and check the others, if not see if you can think of some way to get Alec and Nill down." Thankfully there was no enemies present for the moment, which meant they could recover at least momentarily.

Actually daring to stand, and having a lot of the weight of the pack removed from his shoulders due to the metal bits and so forth pulling towards the "ceiling", Mal noticed the wound on the back of Cara's head. The killik came back to mind, and suddenly dealing with that was a priority. Sure, the Imperial might not PERSONALLY like her, but losing a team member given their situation was not a terribly good idea. Unless it's that idiot Seth. We could lose him, no problem.

Making his way over to Cara, Mal took out the field medkit from a pocket of the pack. It was one thing that was NEVER placed inside the thing, because it would get jumbled and would take

Nill's grip on Seth's shirt was borderline bone-crushing, but the Chiss showed no sign of pain or panic. Reaching his hand out, he grabbed Nill's arm and pulled himself closer to the droid, close enough to perform the task that Nill needed done. The tools that were needed were a datapad and two sharp needles, both were in a side pocket of the bag that Seth had carried down to the planet.

The procedure only took a few moments; Nill's data was spewing from his systems, with the assistance of the datapad, Seth had managed to recover it and place it back into his body. The two needles were sharp and highly durable and were used to weld his wires back together and seal his armor back together. The droid's systems were new, coming from the line that had served in the Yuuzhan Vong War, though little severe changes had been made in the programming. Obviously, the droid line influenced from the idea of the Known Galaxy that if something was not broke, then it did not need to be fixed.

Seth's technological knowledge had come from the military and since the Ascendancy was such a small group, they had long ago learned that advances could only be made over, again and again. It was the common thought that things could always be improved, no matter how good they were. He had not specialized in the artform, but he appreciated its usefulness and it was a tool to be tech savvy around the geniuses of the Ascendancy. Ignorance of anything was not tolerated and severely looked down upon. One had to be a student in all knowledges to be fluent in the language of knowledge itself.

"You're fine, Droid Nill." Seth said as he moved on, letting gravity take its effect on him as well and pull him to where the others were. He landed lightly on his feet, feeling a bit feline-like by the weightless effect that had momentarily had its posession on his body. The others faired well and Judder found himself playing Doctor for the group. Unsurprisingly enough, Seth needed no such assistance for he was not hurt and did not see himself being hurt by just a fall. If the Hapan died, it was by her own doing and it would be one less thing he would have to worry himself about later.

Holstering his pistols after checking and reloading the weapons, Seth positioned himself near a rock and observed his surroundings. It seemed ambiguous enough as to the large wires, gravity field change, and absence of Killiks in what they suspected to be a Killik nest. This peace would be momentary, of course, and soon they would find themselves on the defensive again. The mystery was all around them and Seth did not like the unknown.

    How ironic.

The Stormtrooper was besides her. Unravelling his meidcal supplies he handed her a mdekit. "Hold this would you? I don't wanna run the risk of losing it while I look at your head." She nodded. Only then she realized he planned to treat her wounds. Resistant to pain as she was, the wound had almost beomce unimportant to her.

Poison. She knew all about poisons.
"Numbness in my limbs, high pain resistance. I´d say a Class-2 neural poison. From the effect it already has to me, I´d say it went directly into the blood stream. Spreading through my main arteries within seconds. Antidotes might help, but highly unlikely considering the speed of the spreading. Little we can do about it, though. But it would be nice if you stopped the bleeding. The blood is dripling into my eyes. But I would absolutley understand if you would prefer to treat a patient with better chances." She smiled politely. As if she hadn´t just declared her death was quite likely.

Cara started talking about the effects, and what she thought the poison type was. Mal knew all about poisons, it had been something of a specialty of his. At times it really was the best way to kill someone, though not his prefered method. Being basically a glorified assassin, it was kind of a must to know about them. Regardless of whether you actually wanted that knowledge.

The overall tone of Cara's tone was rather fatalistic, sadly. There was a bit more that could be done, had they more than a field kit. Still that didn't mean giving up was a good idea.

Looking at the readout it gave the proscribed med mixture, was supposed to help but not completely neutrilize. Still better than nothing. So Mal set about setting up the hypo. "Not as bad as you seem to think. This won't fix everything but it will help. Then I'll take care of the wound." He was a bit surprised she wasn't sniping at him, as that had been her overall personality til now. But that would be like biting the hand that feeds you, which most humans weren't particularly prone to doing. And when you try to heal someone, oddly enough, your opinion of them changed slightly as well.

Having mixed the meds, Mal pressed it to her neck, and giving her a reassuring smile pressed the trigger that would pump the drugs into her system. "There, should help at least keep a clearer head and control of your muscles. Have to get you to a medbay when we get back though. Now, to the other part..." Judder actually started humming softly, which was likely a bit of a surprise to Cara should she hear it.

Gently cleaning the wound with the sonic scrubber, the Imperial then applied a bacta patch that would expedite healing and make sure blood wouldn't run into her eyes again. Then he cleaned the blood from her face and hair. "There, should make your life a bit easier overall now." Packing everything away, and then taking his helmet back in one hand, "Can you stand?" He offered her a hand, should she want it, even though it was gloved again.

Seth eyed the ailing Ta'Manis and his eyes were unwavering as he saw her give what she either believed or wanted them to believe were her final words. She was a Hapan, a political society known for their lies and backstabbing, and, in result, nothing she said could be taken as fact nor as complete fiction. Everything would be a test of faith with her until after her death, which Seth eagerly awaited.

The Captain walked brisk and light over to Ta'Manis and Judder, arms folded, and stopped towering over the impaired woman. "You do realize that by trying to save her life, you will only shorten your own. She will be your burden and yours alone. Why let a poison kill her? Give her a warrior's death, Imperial." Pulling his pistol from its holster, Seth touched the tip to Ta'Manis' brow and gazed at Judder.

This would be a test for the group, but specifically Judder. To investigate what his real motives were, for the Empire was not one to help others when power was up for grabs. If he stopped Seth, this would mean that his emotions were getting the better of him or that he was trying to farce them into believing that he would not hurt any of them. The Chiss knew there could be other possibilities and he still had to figure out the whole group, but Judder had gone from insulting the woman to trying to save her. This man was an anomaly in the group's systems and Seth would not stand for it.

Seth came over, and Mal had a tingling along his spine. The chiss wasn't coming over as a team member, he was coming over like a predator, with just such a gleam in the glowing red eyes that so dominated his face. Mal didn't really question how he knew this, it was just one of those things that had saved his life on more than one occassion. Having learned the hard way not to question it, the commando watched Seth very closely.

Arrogant son of a hutt. He wants to play god. As the words of the chiss actually sank in, Mal saw him draw a blaster and move it towards Cara's face. His own hand moved and a blaster was suddenly pointed at Seth's face, right between his eyes. "Do it and die." What the hell is he doing? "You don't know the basic rules, do you? Never kill a team member, never leave them behind because you never know when they might be useful." Cocking his helmetless head, "You on the other hand are rapidly becoming quite expendable in my opinion." Blue eyes met red, and it would be very obvious that Mal had no problem blowing a hole through the others head. It almost looked as if he welcomed the excuse.

Nill felt raw data flow through him, and stood, carefully. Working against the gravity and magnetism, he moved over to Alec and looked down at him. "I have to remove your armour, Alec." Nill started pulling the armour from the armorweave, and then a commotion on the roof suddenly drew the droids attention, following Seth up.

GRAVITY SURGE, thought Nill. His sensors reached out, and connected the mass of wires to the magnetism and the gravitic shifts. He dutifully pointed his blaster at the Chiss, however. Something akin to guilt flowed through the matrix of the battle droid - Seth had only just repaired him. The distance between the 'ceiling' and the floor was only two dozen metres. At this range Nill could take off the blaster without harming the hand.

"Seth, we shall not kill our members. This is a direct order. Everybody stand down."

Not too surprisingly, Judder had drawn a blaster and the Chiss now found himself staring past the weapon into the eyes of a killer. This was not unexpected, but Seth only slightly leaned forward, burrowing Judder's blaster deeper into his blue skin. Seth could feel the history of the soldier, not unlike his own. A man sworn to a similar duty, but not wanting the same thing, not wanting success, recognition, nor great power. To put it simply, they were the same side of two different cards.

His eyes were glowing and his brow was beginning to glisten with sweat, his twisted grin was trying to crawl out of his throat and unto his face, forcing Seth to put a great deal of effort to conceal it. They both wanted this: A clash of two warriors from opposing sides without bonds. Yet, it could not come here, Seth knew, and so he stepped back, holstering his blaster, turning on his heel, and walked back to his respective corner, which was closer to Norghar than he would have preferred.

The Captain could allow for Judder to be the hero for today, the days to come would be more trying. He had something in store for the rest of the team and Droid Nill would not interfere in his plans.

Forever. An instant. Everything in between. Time seemed to warp around the two, standing there with blasters pulled, one in offense one in defense of another. Over all, this was not a situation that Mal had been anticipating. Protecting Cara had never been on his agenda, unlike killing that overrated chiss moron. That was very much in the plan, and the sooner the better. It was all Mal could do not to pull the trigger, but the most obvious result of that was that he would be turned into a dead man himself. Not what he wanted, yet. Mal had already come to terms with the fact that this was going to be where he died. But it would be on HIS terms.

Seth leaned forward, seemingly like a glacier and again Mal nearly pulled the trigger. If I do this then everything goes to hell. Not yet... Not yet. Conflicting desires are never pleasant. Ever.

Then just like that, the moment had passed and Seth walked away. Whether it was due to Nill's order, or because he didn't want to die was rather up for debate. But what had been seen in that eternal moment was something that Mal would not forget soon. They were the same, yet they were utterly different. One cared only for his own power and glory, the other for the team he was placed in and placed honor above all other things as much as his profession would allow. Sometimes honor was all you had. Two sides of the same coin. One a willing killer to accomplish his personal goals, the other one who would prefer not to kill but completed his mission regardless of the cost.

Shaking his head, trying to clear it, Mal reholstered his blaster and offered her a hand again, absently wondering how she would react to his being willing to protect her in such a fashion.
