Does anyone remember what was going on in 1994 with the juggling of the LF
    license betwen Playmates and Kenner?

    Both companies made prototypes which
they had to show to Lucas so he could decide who of them gets the rights
to do SW merchandise for the future.

Playmates made a 6-inch tall Luke Skywalker in Bespin disguise.
    I heard it looked awful.
Does anyone have pics of him from
    a collector magazin?
Lee`s Toy Guide probably had and issue
    on that back in 1994.

I would like to see what could have happend to SW collecting really bad!
Anyone who can get a pic?

Someone at the Rebelscum forums told
me they also made a "swiss armyknife "
R2-D2 with all his telescoping stuff to pull out.

Isn`t there anyone on this forum that knows what I´m talking about.
I guess there aren`t any wise collectors on this forum. ;)

^ Wow... OCB the Hutt... I was just thinking of you for some reason, and here you are posting. *twilight zone music is heard*

I didn't start collecting till 1998 myself, so I wouldn't remember that. I don't recall seeing it in any of the collecting books I have now though.

Sounds interesting, maybe after seeing these pieces we would actually respect Hasbro.

    Check out:

    TradeFederation

Jimmy interviewed the guy at Playmates who did the original Bespin Luke Mock-Up based on your thread at Rebeslcum Billy_Dee_Binks

The site was down this morning but keep checking back there ;)

Well, if you can get past that head sculpt it really doesn't look that bad... ;)

Looks good ("kiddie" head sculpt aside), but I doubt a production model would've been anywhere near as detailed.

It sounds like the wanted to do an line almost like the Unleashed Figures are now. I love the Unleashed stuff but I also love the 4" line, I wonder if they made any 4" Mock-Ups?

    OBC the Hutt:
How do you know I posted that thread
    at the Rebelscum forums too?
    I known as Tyrannusspotting_Binks there.

The Force seems to be very strong on you.

Anyway, HA! I´m so smart. Nobody else
on this forum ever heard of that until I
got off my ass to get some info.

    Feels great to be wise.

That was the only post at Rebelscum on Playmates I found when you were originally asking for the info. Adam Pawlus never got back to me, good thing Jimmy saw your post too :)

I am glad that Playmates didn't make the Star Wars toys. At least a new generation of kids got to experience the fun of playing with Star Wars toys that actually featured some playability instead of being directed solely at collectors! The Hasbro toys were great and also fun for kids, without sacrificing quality. Unfortunately, even they (Hasbro) has succumbed to figures that tend to be too posed to be any fun! I have never been a fan of collector aimed toys. It kind of defeats the purpose of their being toys doesn't it??

The KENNER figs were fun. Hasbro ones... meh. A lot are nice, but...

Anyway... I like this Luke fig. The sculpt does look like Hamill to me... at least, more like Hamill than the original 95 Kenner Luke head. I would have bought it. :D
