Amph 60+ Years of James Bond 007

I disagree....for now. I need to see OHMSS again. It's a great film, but I was underwhelmed by Savalas. He's more menacing in The Dirty Dozen than in this one. But again, I have to re-watch.

 

Donald Pleasence played him as a bit of a weirdo , I was never sure what to make of it . I prefered Savalas , plus he's able to get involved in the physical action .

btw - .Did the cat ever have a name ? I assume she's not in the novels

 

Savalas is the most physically imposing. Donald Pleasance is weird and creepy, but Bond could snap his neck with one hit. Savalas is the only Blofeld that might actually kick your ass all by himself.

 

Pleasance's Blofeld was terrible--impish and ineffectual. Savalas's iteration is the only one I can imagine presiding over the likes of Dr. No and Rosa Klebb. (I just assume Savalas is augmenting his voice during his "veiled" appearances in FRWL and Thunderball.)

 

Okay, you guys convinced me. This was ten years ago that I saw all the older films.

 

I prefer Pleasance to Savalas.

I just got these for the collection:





They were like $40 for both on Amazon; I've seen the Johnny Lightning going for a fair bit so that'll stay packed away safely. With the Goldfinger set though, I complete the lot of the 2 pack car/figure sets that Corgi have done:





The Craig one had to be manually repainted by a friend, since the hands weren't painted and the rest was a bit meh.

All three of the Corgi Bonds sit on my monitor stand now.

 

I mean, you advertise a figure as hand painted and then the hands are the one thing not painted?

 

I know right.

If you look at that image, you can see it's a wholly black torso; my friend did this up as:



EDIT: Craig's one is duty, I don't normally have it that lit up so whelp, cleaning time. Also the figure is smaller than the other two, who are the same height etc as the miniatures from say, HeroClix, Imperial Assault, etc - he does have the better detailed cars. The DB5 is packed away but it's right hand drive and with Bahamas plates; the DBS has good detailing and the TT 378-20 plate from Casino Royale.

You had me scared for a second there. I thought you were talking about the Bond girl before I saw the link.

She'll probably do a really good theme song.

 

Wasn't she going to perform the theme for QoS? I'll believe it when I see it, just as long as they keep Academy Award winner and arrogant dorkface Sam Smith away forever.

 

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Sam Smith, but his theme sounded so good in Spectre.

 

I had to look because I watched Spectre again and the song is just SO BAD but that year was soooooooooooo light for nominated songs. Apparently there were some snubs that year though...
