Walmart is selling individual Bond films for $6, so I did my part and hid copies of DAF, L&LD, TMWTGG, MR, DAD, YOLT, OP, and AVTAK so the commoners wouldn't be subjected to them.

    Dear god.

Pick a shot of Craig with a tie on.

    Slovenly hobo.

Lazenby and Dalton at the back, while mathematically sound, is disgraceful.

I really want a Bond film named MR. DAD now.

But does Bomd face his greatest villain, Dr No's father Mr. Dad, or is James Bond Mr. Dad when he has to adopt three adorable young children for secret agent-related reasons?

I'm going with the second one. Not only is "James Bond is . . . MR. DAD" a great tagline, but it sounds like the perfect vehicle for a Roger Moore comeback.

I think that's what Paul Haggis's original pitch for Quantum of Solace was actually. With Bond hanging out with Vesper's potentially annoying kid. In which case I understand why Campbell passed on it; he would never ever do a sequel to a half-decent film where the once-cool hero has to hang out with an annoy-

The scenes from the film look great.

Smith's super-awkward drunken swaying, not so much.

I played the song after reading all the negative reviews of it here, so I was prepared to despise it and... I didn't. The vocals are soaked in emotion and the melody, while lacking any catchy riffs like you might expect a Bond theme song to have, is quite haunting. Smith has a beautiful singing voice, as well. It's much slower in tempo than any 007 credits number I can think of, but with all that feeling dripping from the singer's performance, I was never bored with it. A-.

Finally heard the Sam Smith song, kinda wimpy, I dig more bombast in my Bond songs but I'll reserve judgement in how it plays with the opening credits sequence.

The lyrics are breath-takingly **** though.

    I've been here before
    But always hit the floor
    I've spent a lifetime running
    And I always get away
But with you I'm feeling something
That makes me want to stay

    and

    I'm not prepared for this
    I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I'm gonna make it through the day
Then there's no more use in running
This is something I gotta face

    and

    A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won't be afraid

    Seriously awful stuff.

Good thing aesthetic responses are subjective, then.

Good trailer but, like Skyfall and Quantum, a see a lot of nods and winks to 1960s James Bond in terms of lines/references. Waltz' "I though you came here to die" admittedly did make me smile, but I just hope it doesn't go into the style of nostalgia seen in Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Look don't get me wrong, I'm glad a 14 year old wrote lyrics that got used in a song, just not this one.

If the lyrics are meant to refer to a random lead character in a song, they're cheesy but I can give them a pass. But if they're meant to refer to Bond (and I'm actually not sure if they are or not), then... no. These sentiments do not fit him at all.

For a variety of reasons I'm disappointed that one of the lyrics isn't a "A spectre of the past..."

Which, um, would be entirely appropriate in many ways. But also STAR WARS

I think the question we're all really asking about this song, deep down, is "whither the glory years of Duran Duran?"

Yeah, sorry, I tell a lie: "Touch it, stroke it and undress it" is not the last genuinely amusing Bond lyric, it's "to drench your skin with lover's rosy stain"

I'm struggling to recall any Bond theme song lyrics that are above the level of adolescent pop poetry.

I submit that if you like the lyrics to Goldfinger, for example, it's because of nostalgia, not because of any actual quality in the writing.

sure they're mostly about love or power , but at least some have humor , especially the early ones .

my problem with this new one is that it's the sort of awful teenage screeching you get on the X-Factor , it's inept . people like Matt Monro or Shirley Bassey had a class about them , they knew what they were doing ..

Something I just realized about the Daniel Craig Bond films: will either of the "Bond girls" die in Spectre?

Casino Royale: Vesper Lynd died at the end of the movie.
Quantum of Solace: The fellow MI6 agent is killed by Quantum.
Skywall: The main Bond girl dies (I don't count Moneypenny).
    Spectre: ?

We'll see which one engages in certain activities with Bond, because so far, that's been the "kiss of death," so to speak.
