8mm reel of original Star Wars? Value?

A friend just called me to say that a huge estate sale nearby has an 8mm film reel of a new hope. I'm planning on stopping by and trying to get this as I think it would be a great addition to my Star Wars collection, but I don't want to overpay or anything. Valuewise, how much do you think this is worth?

 

Whatever you (or someone else) are willing to pay for it.

Might be interesting to see which version of the crawl is on it...

 

It all depends on you, man. it might be worth a hundred to one to 1000 the next. remeber the star wars hummer. the person who won it didn't want it, so they sold it for like $50,000. I think thats the price. Come on %) thou for a hummer like that, thats an easy 150 to me.

 

I will have a look through the boards but there was a thread made about film reels quite a while ago

edit: Just had a look it depends what it is cause the one posted on the boards was a film reel one of its kind and the person had someone offer them $2500 but then reading my price guide I have got the following

As you said it was 8mm so really I suppose it will have some referance on there to tell you how long the reel is in metres and if it is colour or has sound so there is a rough estimate to how much to pay. Make sure you pay a bargain price for it and let us know how you got on

 

Those are way high from what I've see.

Thats why its important to buy what you like for yor own happines.

I'd say its worth $40.00. If I were you I'd try to get it for $20 or so.

I agree. At least for the theatrical trailers. I have an ESB re-release trailer and the AOTC "Breathing" trailer, both of which were only $20-35 or so.
