Yikes! I really dropped the ball here as I appreciate MT's lists and like to add a few comments here and there. So, a month later, here are my thoughts on the "Cs":

Caddyshack__1980 must see even for non-golfers with
Bill Murray & Rodney Dangerfield at their best.

A big "yes" to this - still funny no matter how many times you watch it. A true classic.

A Christmas Story__1983 ?You?ll shoot your eye out!?

    "Ahh...fragile - it must be Italian!" [face_laugh]

Cliffhanger__1993 Sylvester Stallone in quality action flick.

Every list has a surprise for me...this is the one from the Cs.

The Conversation__1974 Great Gene Hackman SPY/action-er saga.

Anything with Gene Hackman is gold in my book.

Crimson Tide__1995 great nuclear sub ?who is in command? story
With Gene Hachman & Denzell Washington.

See previous. I think I like "The Hunt for Red October" a bit more, but hey, this has Hackman.

n-Cast Away__2000 Tom Hanks in Robinson Crusoe like story only
his Friday is a soccer ball named Wilson.

I like this, but the love story is a real heartbreaker.

n-The Color Purple__1985 slow moving, but strong story
of Black Womens life covering 40-years. Staring Whoopie Goldberg
with fine Quincy Jones soundtrack, that was originally released
    on purple vinyl.

"soundtrack, that was originally released on purple vinyl." - interesting...I did not know that.

Great list, MT - keep 'em coming!

    __________The Ds________________

Dam Buster?s__1955 WW2 of dropping a bomb that skips across water until it reaches a damn,
where upon it sinks to the base of the dam and destroys the damn with a single explosion.

True story from WW2 makes this film very interesting
as it uses actual WW2 footage of this wacko bomb. (need to get a copy of this)

ALSO, noteworthy is this films uncanny relationship to Star Wars,

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NMfBKrdErY

NOTE: If you watch the whole film, this is also where Leia's "buns" may come from!:-B

With unique ground breaking soundtrack by Bernard Herman.
Remake is also ok. ?Klaatu Barada Nikto?

Chasing wrongly accused trapper (Charles Bronson) in Frozen Canada.

Destination Moon__1950 Pioneering special effects by George Pal.
Note: Space Station docking scene almost same as in 2001
Famous Sci-Fi author, Robert Heinlien also worked on the script
And, film includes a Woody Woodpecker cartoon!

Destroy All Monsters__1968 one of my favorites starring,
Godsilla, Mothra, Rodan, etc. all fighting a monster from space
    To save Earth!
Apparently, only our monsters are allowed to destroy earth___lol

Destry Rides Again__1939 James Steward western with famous
Marlene Dietrich song? See What The Boy?s in the Backroom will have.?

The Devil & Daniel Webster__1941 with oscar winning Bernard Herman score
In a story about a soul, what else:D

The Devil?s Advocate__1997 (I need this one) great story of devil
    Hunting souls again.

grade-A Bond film. ?Bambi & Thumper? are precious.

The Diary Of Anne Frank__1959__Bio-Drama has true message of Nazi
    Aggression against the Jews

    Dick Tracy__1990__almost a musical with a cartoon-like flare
Makes this film fun. Detective Tracy is an American icon.

Die Hard__1988__all 3 films are great action hero gets bad guys.

The Dirty Dozen__1967__cool WWII film with ridiculous plot of
Using prisoners on a covert mission.

    Delores Claiborne__1995__R-Rated murder story with
Kathy Bates (a fav of mine) at her best!

Double Indemnity__1944__Barbra Stanwyck,, Fred MacMurray &
Edward G. Robinson in one of the best murder for love stories ever.

    My way-to-late thoughts on MT's D's...

Everyone here knows these names were "borrowed" for ROTJ characters, but were those characters so named by Lucasfilm, or Kenner?

I watched this (or part of it, at least) for the first time just this year. Jeff Goldbloom plays a young hoodlum, correct?

I was also slow to see this for the first time. Pretty good, I thought.

    Wow, I've gotta see this!

Here is the surprise on the list - always interesting to see which recent popcorn flick will make MT's list, along with all the classics, musicals, etc.

I wonder if Disney's latest, The Princess and The Frog, will also make MT's list?

    __________The Es________________

Earth vs The Flying Saucers__1956 another great B-film.

Easter Parade__1948 Fred Astaire & Judy Garland Musical

East Of Eden__1955 Makes James Dean a star in his first film

Edward Scissorhands__1990 Johnny Depp & my fav, Vincent Price,
In very well told Fantasy Film.

Ed Wood__1994 Johnny Depp is brilliant as Ed Wood,
Martian Landau IS Bela Legois and Bill Murray makes Plan-9 come alive in this bio-drama of iconic B-film maker Ed Wood
(I recommend all Ed Wood b-films as off the wall)

The Egyptian__1954 Just love spectaculars about building the pyramids.

Enemy At The Gates___2001 R-rated (need) Russian Snipers during WWII, a very intense and well made film.

Enemy Below__1957 A film & Plot so good that Star Trek used it in the TOS episode ?Balance of Terror?

Ernest Save?s Chirstmas__1988 An all time Holiday favorite of mine.
(other Ernest films are all forgettable.)

Exodous__1960 Otto Preminger Epic about 1947 Jewish post WWII attempt to leave Germany/Europe and found the State Of Israel. Oscar award winning score by Ernest Gold and a Script by Black-listed writer Dalton Trumbo are just some of the many reasons to watch, plus it?s a great film.

Exorcist__1973 Parodied so much that the original effect is lessoned.
So, see this first and then Laugh at the really fun film, Repossessed.

Experiment In Terror__1962 Great Henry Mancini score! Stars, Lee Remick (a fav of mine) Film tells story of bank teller Remick being terrorized into eventually helping to rob the bank.

    Notable Es

n-The Eagle Has Landed__1977 (need) Nazi?s plot to capture Winston Churchill

n-The Eiger Sanction__1975 Clint Eastwood in weak film I like.

n-El Cid__1961 Charlton Heston epic about Spain driving out the moors.

n-El Dorado__1967 another good John Wayne western.

n-Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark__1988 campy Halloween fun

    n- Endless Summer I & II 1966 & 1994 respectively
who would think I?d like documentaries about surfing!!!!

n-Enforcer__1976 Clint Eastwood ? Dirty Harry film
but, Tyne Daley is my reason for noting this film.
(Bogart?s 1951 of same title, also pretty good)

n-Eraser__1996 Arnold Schwarzenager action flick about keeping witness safe.

n-Executive Decision__1996 Pre-911 terrorists fly plane towards Washington D.C. Note, final credits use a rare Frank Sinatra song that is Bizarrely out of place, but I like it.

n-Eye Of The Needle__1981 (need) WWII spy film

    My thoughts on MT's "Es":

Two Johnny Depp films here (Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood) make me wonder if we will see any of the Pirates of the Caribbean films when we get to the Ps.

    This was a nice surprise:

which caused me to look up Jim Varney on Wikipedia. Most here will probably recognize his voice in the Toy Story movies as Slinky Dog. Since Jim Varney died in 2000, it made me wonder who will voice Slinky in the upcoming Toy Story 3. Per Wikipedia, it is Blake Clark - veteran of a whole slew of Adam Sandler movies and perhaps best known as Harry the hardware store owner on Home Improvement.

Finally, what about Empire Strikes Back? Or will that be filed under S (or T, for The ESB)?

    ref pirate movies..........hhhhhhhhmmmmmmm.....we shall see,

ref Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell.

The Ernest Christmas movie, for me was a great surprize when it came out,
prior to this it was all of his amazing Sprite commercials,
    and the "Great Taste Lymon"

As for STAR WARS, ok, there will be an Episode title list,

Well, even though I seem to be entertaining only myself and TW,

here goes even more of my ___way to long___movie list.

    ________________The F-s___________________

Farenheit 451__1966 Must see cerebral SCI_FI
with Brilliant Bernard Herman score. Also, read the Ray Bradbury novel.

Fail Safe__1964 A more ominous comedy of Nukes & Cold War
    Than Dr. StrangeLove.

Falling Down__1993 We can all equate with someone going
Postal after a run of bad luck and depression.

Fantastic Voyage__1966 Fun Sci-Fi of people shrunk small enough
To fit into a persons blood stream to carry out a medical operation.
Stars a fav of mine, Raquel Welch.

Fatman and Little Boy__1989 Drama/history__how USA developed the A-Bomb

Fifth Element__1997 Great Sci-Fi fun. Everyone should give this film
A test drive at the very least.

Final Conflict__1980 Hard to find Sci-Fi of Modern Aircraft Carrier
In WWII thanks to a mysterious time portal
Right at the time of Pearl Harbor.

First Blood__1982 Best of the RAMBO series for me. (others are ok)

Five Million Miles to Earth__1968 Quatermass finds
    buried spaceship under London

Flash Gordon (not 1980 version) B@W serial edited into movie,
Are Fav?s of Mine (ask me to bring spaceships to a meeting)
Music is from Franz List (Les Preludes),
Franz Waxman (Bride of Frankenstein) & others
(am also guilty of owning Flesh Gordon)

The Fly__1958 Vincent Price (a fave) at his best!

The FLYING TIGERS__1942 Yet, another John Wayne WWII war film,
    BUT,
This time, there is a personal connection!

The Original Flying Tigers, would return to the states to
Start an all cargo airline in 1945, that would go on to become
The worlds largest all cargo airline until their merger
    With FedEx in 1989. I was a tiger from 1972 to 1989,
And am still sitting here in my same chair only there seems to
Be a FedEx logo on it now_______hhhhhhhhmmmmmm

Footlight Parade__1933 Sure, James Cagney is great! And, so are
Three amazing Busby Berkley numbers, but, it is the Kitty Cat Boxing
Match that puts this film over the top for me.

Forbbiden Planet__1956 Robby The Robot, The Id monster, and
The first all electronic musical score that was completely
Done in a New York couples basement make this a must see.

    42-nd Street__1933 a must see, benchmark/old school musical
With Busby Berkly and Ruby Keeler. Those dancing feet!

Frankenstein__1931 Considering the year this was made, no remake
Has come close to being as good!
Note- Bride of Frankenstein is the only sequel/spin-off
    That can follow it!

Freaks__1932 Not for the faint of heart. Title says it all!
Film explains my sometimes comment. ?One of Us?

From Here To Eternity__1953 8-Oscars validate army story that leads
up to the Pearl Harbor sneak attack.

The Fugitive__1993 Harrison Ford in movie version of TV show.
Tommy Lee Jones also quite good as well.

Full Metal Jacket__1987 R. Lee Ermy (of mail call on TV) was hired
To be a consultant as an army D.I. He was so much better than the
actor hired for the part that Stanly Kubrick gave it to him.
And let?s face it, he makes this film as well as many others
After being discovered in this one.

Indeed, I have been way too slow to offer my comments and questions, sorry MT! [face_blush]

To this I say, yes, yes and YES! I love this movie. Good all the way around.

Embarrassed to say I have not seen this, despite it being required viewing for geeks.

Always one surprise on the list, and this is it for me. Who knew MT liked Rambo?

Two things here..."ask me to bring spaceships to a meeting" and "am also guilty of owning Flesh Gordon".

But not the Jeff Goldblum version?

What about Footloose? Sorry, it was on TV this weekend, so it's on my mind.

Another great list, MT. Sorry for my delayed reply, I am still very interested in reading more when you have the time.

I liked the 80's "Fly" with Jeff Goldblum. Definitely a generation gap here.

Thank you, MT, for making me feel 'young'.
