    Much thanks for this review,

    The Day The Earth Stood Still...original...
    is one of my favorites, staring Patricia Neal.
    (have even seen her interviewed on stage a couple
    of years ago)

    And so was very leary of the re-make.

    As it turned out, I kinda liked it. Wish it had
    better music, but all in all it was MUCH better
    than I thought it might be.

    Came right home and then watched the original again.

    Also, managed to find a theatre showing this where I could
    actually see and hear the comming attractions without squinting
    from endless flash bang previews, and from holding my ears,
    as the over pumped sound in theatres will eventually lead
    to some kind of class action lawsuit for hearing loss.

    thanks again merc:)

    yer welcome!

    I just cancelled cable and joined Netflix.. been having fun watching all sorts of random movies.. Some completely terrible ones, but the number of TV shows available to watch on demand? It is great!

    watching Waitress now. An entertaining movie.

    Well, hope you all do not mind a moment of sef-indulgence.

    the original post had ftl in caps as follows_______FTL

    Which is burned into my mind as where I work from
    Jan. 06 1972 to Aug. 07, 1989 when we merged with
    FedEx (who still offers a kind of Flying Tiger service which
    uses Flying Tiger Line name and logos on labels which go on the freight)

    [image=http://www.flyingtigerline.org/images/n810ft.jpg]

    Flying Tiger Line/Federal Express corporation,
    has been the worlds largest cargo-airline for longer
    than I have worked here (except maybe AeroFlot during the cold war)

    //edit to add//

    oh, and to make this on topic as the movie thread,

    I highly recomend, John Wayne in the film, The Flying Tigers,
    as that is where they originated from:)

    well, still have not seen fanboys, but that should be a dvd buy and play ok on a small TV,

    but this next one will not.

    [image=http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a94/MusicTrooper/one%20time%20use/monsters.jpg]

    I saw this at IMAX, and it was worth it,

    for the first time since I saw a 3-Stooges 3-D movie at the
    old Music Box,

    3-D IMAX worked for me and worked quite well.

    The movie it-self has some huge plot wholes, but is fun
    and well made.

    Obviously, this is one where at home on the small screen really will
    hurt the viewing experience.

    We just watched Bolt last night. I kept falling asleep but the first half of the movie looked good. The kids seemed to enjoy it and I liked the chase scene at the beginning. Maybe we will watch it again later and I can do a more thorough review.

    I especially liked one of the scenes between Bolt and the cat. Bolt got very serious as he turned to the cat and said, "Mittens..."

    I don't recall the rest of the dialog. The serious tone of both the scene and Bolt's voice, in contrast to the name "Mittens", was too much for me and I laughed long and hard.

    What a slick presentation of a paroody of the news using selected fan quotes.

    and, very humorous as well.

    and also,

    Dear MercSailor,

    Hopefully, the word "Net" in Netflix,

    indicates improved access to "The Net" via the "World Wide Web":)

    Well...

    Even though I know this was just a ploy to get me to post, I will let you all know what I thought.

    Slightly.. disappointing? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, and laughed. A lot. But after watching it, I can definitely tell why it didn't get a wide release.

    But still. It was definitely entertaining. I fully endorse watching this film.

    But, this picture? Oh my...
