I hope everybody that went had a great time at Convergence. :)

It's been a pretty boring (and not to mention hot!) weekend for me. :(

But, life continues anyways! May the Force be with you all!

CONvergence, for me, was the most spectacular con ever. I'm sad that I really only hung out with the MN and Chicago Forcers a bit on Friday, but being in costume with all the 501st'ers brought instant fame. The only sucky parts were when we had to wait behind stage in the green room longer than expected for both of our stage performances.

Here's an interesting bit of info that I found out this weekend. CONvergence is a split from a con that used to exist called MinneCon (sp?). MinneCon didn't like a lot of elements of the con and so they cut them. The CONvergence people picked them up and formed CONvergence. MinneCon still happens, possibly under a different name, but since the split 3 years ago, their attendance numbers have gone down. Nonetheless, the point I wanted to make was that CONvergence is a split from MinneCon, and yet the word converge means to come together, or intersect at a point. Isn't irony great?! :D

    That is quite ironic. :)

You forgot to mention another sucky thing Bill. When you lost your bolt.

But it was very fun overall I would say. :D

Okay..capsule history of Minicon/Marscon/Convergence from an old Con Pro..

Minicon was a HUGE monster con that was held every easter at the Radisson South..when I say huge..we're talking 3000 people spread out over 3 hotels. Well, the organizers of Minicon wanted to get back to what Minicon was 30 years ago..a smallish literary sf con..so they cut most of the media related stuff, the masquerade and..well most of the fun stuff. Two groups then stepped in to take over those areas..Marscon and Convergence. Marscon, which usually happens in May, is still trying to find a large audience while Convergence is quickly becoming the Godzilla on steroids that minicon used to be. Minicon is still held, by the way..over Easter weekend at the downtown Hilton..with attendence down to about 700 people. In short, they got exactly what they wanted..and have been regretting it ever since.

Besides, 3PO is fine in my book, but he isn't, nor will ever be, as great as R2-D2! :D

    What debate? I still say 3P0 could kick Bria's a$$! :p

Seriously, neither R2 nor 3PO is my favorite droid. That honor goes to IG-88 for me. But R2 is close after that. I also really like the Destroyer Droids in TPM.

R2D2 saved the day more than anyone else I can think of in the SW saga. He deserves every bit of respect and praise that can be mustered! ;)

I smell a poll coming closer....

Without a doubt. I feel for everybody who has to put up with him during extended trips through hyperspace. No way to escape! heheh. Good thing he has an on/off switch.
