    So, here's the deal.

I have a PS2 and a Gamecube. I play Battlefront a lot and have been looking forward to the sequel for some time.

My problem is the timing of the release dates.

BF2 is out in less than a week. Xbox 360 comes out on November 22nd, I believe. [correct me if I'm wrong on the exact date]

SO my problem is that I want to get BF2 soon, but I want to get it for Xbox. should I:

    1. get the PS2 version, and then in three weeks buy it again with 360
    2. wait for the 360 version and not play BF2 for a longo time
    3. buy a regular xbox and play BF2 until I can play it on a 360
    4. what else could I do?

see? I have no idea how to not waste a crapload of money and still be able to play BF2 soon.
    [face_thinking]

EDIT: btw, I'm planning on getting online with BF2, so if that helps anyone's recommendation, I don't care whether or not it's online PS2 or Xbox Live, I just want to go online with BF2.

hhmm, I would say that you should get the Xbox version and wait until the 360 comes out, which requires patience but it's good to practice patience, except that there is no guarantee (that I know of) that the 360 will be able to play BF2 once it comes out. Most likely it will, but you never know, it might be weeks, months or even a year before they get it backwards compatible with that particular game (remember, the backwards compatibility of the Xbox is on a game-by-game basis).
You could buy a old Xbox just to play this one game until the 360 comes out and become compatible with the game, but then your investment in the Xbox will take a steep nose dive (basically, you wont get as much for the system when you trade it after the new system comes out).

The safe thing to do would be just to get it for your PS2.

But if it were me (and If I had the money), I'd get the Xbox version and wait for the 360, betting it will work on the system (I'm sure it will). But that's just because I don't like the PS2.

I kind of have the same dillema. I was gonna get a 360, already have a X-Box & GC, but instead I think I'm gonna get a slim PS2 so I can game with some friends who don't have XBL but still have my X-Box and then bide my time until the 360 releases more games.

Xbox 360 looks sweet though. I want to get it the day it comes out.

The standard 360 is NOT backwards compatibe with the xbox.

There is a more expensive deluxe model that is xbox compatible though. This may effect your decision.

That would depend on where you live, but an indication is US$299 for standard, US$399 for deluxe at launch.

^^ Well sure, it's a much better deal....especially if you factor in the wireless controller on top of the BC hard drive - those alone are worth more than the extra $100 together.

Well first off, there is no 360 Version for BF2. Only PS2, Xbox, PC, and PSP. However you should be able to play the Xbox version on the 360 because of the backwards playablity thingy. Since you don't have a Xbox now, you can be bold and just wait for November 22nd to get a 360 and then you can buy BF2 (Xbox Version) and play it on the 360.

Simple. Find a friend with an Xbox. Move in with him until the 360 comes out.

Draco, that's why I was thinking of getting a PS2 & BFI & II for it and waiting on the 360 until more games come out. I save some $$ and still get a new system(new to me anyway)

Do yourself a favor if your'e plannning on getting the 360 and BF2, just wait three weeks to get it at launch. No need to give LA anymore of your hardearned money than necessary or just do as Katya says and rent it.
