So, when Rey first starts hearing "voices", I'm assuming it's then that she's first (knowingly) receptive to the Force, eh? Is it an reasonable hypothesis then, to assume that she opened the door to the chest o' saber with the Force, perhaps even unwittingly? I don't like the idea of the Force - as more of an abstract occurrence - opening the door for her. (If she hit a button to open the door and I totally missed it, I shall now go off and feel like an idiot).

Also, after Rey takes off, Han shows up in the basement asking how/where Maz got the saber. Does anyone else feel that maybe at least just that little exchange should have been left out; that maybe we could/should have been left with the notion that Han knew she had it, and since the mission was about Luke, then going there was potentially logical for reasons besides just finding new transportation. Otherwise, arriving there and having that pivotal moment can only be chalked up to amazing coincidence...unless I totally missed something - which is always very possible. :)

    Thanks!

It was the will of the Force. Nothing is more powerful. Loved the scene.

IIRC, doesn't the panel with the switch give off a little spark or something to indicate that it is not an automatic door?

I took it as the Force/part of the mystery to be explained in this trilogy.

Just to clear up any confusion, I meant to say that I assumed (or like to assume) that it was HER Force powers opening the door (again, perhaps unintentionally because of her own very strong desire to have the door opened), as opposed to the abstract "Will of the Force" opening it for her in a "come hither" way.

It's there because the plot demanded it.

Sometimes you gotta ignore stuff like that.

It was the will of the force. The will of the force only comes into play when there's a plot hole :p
