    I finally had one of Disneyland's Belles explain to me why she wasn't a princess.

    It's because you never see her marry the prince. That... well, makes sense, but is DUMB.

    That's right. I did. Because it's the best.

    And I guess there's a distinction with being a princess, and being a Disney Princess. Eilonwe is the former, but not the latter. Mulan is the latter but not the former. Cinderella is both.
