Then in Empire Strikes Back.

C-3PO: That sounds like an R-2 unit...I wonder. Hello.

Voice: Who're you?

C-3PO: I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. No, no please don't get up.....BLAM

I ask this. Was the curse 3PO placed on himself fulfilled?

No I am not STUPID. And I have plenty of ideas. It is the minutia that keeps these threads up. And the interesting questions, about anything Classic Trilogy, that keeps these boards going. So again please don't flame me. Thank you.

That's a bit out there. What he means by "curse" in "Curse my metal body" was like an expletive. Like "*#&^Q# this peice of #&@$% body of mine...I'm too %&*@*#@ slow!". It doesn't mean he is cursed and eventually the curse will catch up with him.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic however I wanted to add that he also says that same line in Labrinith of Evil- "Curse my metal body I'll become entombed in here!"

 

Apparently I'm the only one who thinks this is a brilliant observation!

At that point he hadn't met the Ewoks yet, so he wasn't aware that he was a god.
He was completely oblivious to the fact that cursing himself would have such dire consequences.

 

The curse could not have been fulfilled because C-3PO was indeed fast enough and everyone was saved.

However, if you want to apply a "curse" and "effect" theory how about when he is lying in the burning wires in the Millenium Falcon only moments later after they escape from the deathstar

 

Does this thread really have a point? It seems to me like it's just a waste of space.

The wires thing is a good point also. Nothing REALLY bad happens to 3PO in the OT until he puts that curse upon himself.

Before the curse:
His ship is under attack, but he escapes
He is picked up by the Jawas, but sold to kind humans
He gets pulled aboard the Death Star but since he's a droid, the stormtroopers don't pay any attention to him

After the curse:
He gets caught in burning wires on the Falcon
He gets blown to pieces in Cloud City
His eye gets chewed out by Salacious Crumb

I think we're on to something!

 

Darth butt is right, it's not like a Voodoo curse or anything like that. The word has two meanings, and in this case, he's using it the way that Darth butt described.

 

But he's a mighty Ewok God!

Surely he can conjure a measly curse!

 

You forgot what happened to him in AotC's shadowplay well before he "cursed" himself.
