Title: A Day at the Beach
    Author: brodiew
    Genre: romance
    Timeframe: pre ROTS
    Characters: Anakin, Padme
Summary: Padme takes Anakin on a mission, but has an agenda of her own.
A/N: So A/P is on my mind. I can only shake it, by making it good. :)

    Commenor

The accommodations provided by the Commenor government were first rate. After getting settled in, Padme sat down on Anakin?s lap as he rested in a hover chair.

?I?ve got to hand it to you, Padme,? Anakin said with a smirk, ?You sure know how to throw your weight around.?

?I?ll thank you not to insult my figure, sir,? she replied with a wink, kissing him.

He stood up, with her in his arms. ?How did you wrangle this assignment for me, Senator??

?Master Yoda was puddy in my hands,? she said, peppering kisses about his lips, chin, and nose. ?I reminded him of the past attempts in my life and said that a familiar Jedi as an escort would do much to relieve my apprehension. How could he refuse??

?How, indeed,? he said, arching an eyebrow. ?Who knew you could be so deceptive.?

?Persuasive, with a side of deception, Anakin,? she said, tapping him on the shoulder. ?I?m still being protected by one of the best Jedi Knight in the Order.?

?One of the best?? he queried, setting her down.

?Yes, dear, one of the best,? she said, staring up into his sea blue eyes. ?You are not a Master yet.?

?I should be,? he replied, mild irritation in his voice.

?You will be, Anakin,? Padme said, placing a hand on each side of his face. ?The best ever!?

?Hmmm?? he said, receiving her kiss, but not fully returning it.

?This is bugging you, isn?t it,? she said, quietly, after breaking the kiss.

    ?Am I that obvious??

    ?Yes.?

    ?Great,? he grumbled.

?Let?s go for a walk on the beach,? she suggested suddenly. ?It will help us clear our heads, and leave our work related troubles behind.?

Anakin didn?t tense, but his displeasure with the idea, was, again, obvious.
?You know I hate the sand, yet you persistently try to get me out into it,? he said turning his back on her and walking to the window.

?Anakin,? she said, snaking her hands around his waist and placing her cheek to his back. ?I like the beach. I know you hate sand, but beach is so different from the desert. There is abundant water as far as the eyes can see.?

?I know what a beach is, Padme,? he replied, dryly. ?I?ve seen them before.?

She released her hands and took one his arms, turning him back toward her.

?Beloved, I know for a fact that you have never walked on the beach or let your toes touch the cool waters of the ocean. Let?s go.?

Anakin didn?t move. Padme frowned at this impassive glare.

?Ok?? Padme said, her own frustration mounting. ?I?m going. If you decide to come, leave the robes here, I bought a swimsuit for you. It?s in the bedroom.?

Padme turned and walked into the bedroom. He followed a moment later and saw her enter the refresher.

He sat on the edge of the bed, sulking, the red knee length swimsuit to his left. He did not want to go outside. It has been years since he had felt sand between his toes. He thought of his mother. Anger spiked at the memory, but he suppressed it immediately. He loved her. He still loved her intensely. But, she was dead. Padme was the woman in his life now. The love was different, but just as intense and consuming. He would walk on the beach for her despite his discomfort.

A couple of minutes later, Padme emerged from the refresher, in a violet, one piece swimsuit. Her curly brown hair lay effortlessly about her shoulders. She was a vision of beauty. She pulled a sarong from a hook just inside the fresher and wrapped it around her trim waist. There were scattered images of colorful flowers and trees and even a couple of birds. Her feet were bare. They, too, were perfect.

?Your turn, My Love,? she urged, coming to stand in front of him. She picked up the swimsuit and tossed in his lap. ?Suit up.?

He smiled slyly, standing, forcing her to step back. Taking her in his arms, he dipped

Nice beginning! I loved the fact that you worked in the bit about Ani hating sand. I also loved the beach outfit Padme picked out for Anakin- red swim trunks and the shirt with "Not so common" on it. Very nice touch. You really have a gift for A&P mush. =D==D= =D=

I thoroughly enjoyed this little story too! Anakin in red swim trunks? ha! [face_laugh] I also liked how you weaved Anakin's dislike for sand into this. Also, I really liked this line: ?Persuasive, with a side of deception, Anakin,? she said, tapping him on the shoulder. I like the ways she thinks. Wonderful story and again thanks for sharing.

I appreaciate all of you that have read this fic. Thank you all for your patience. I thought it was a lost cause. I have written very little A/P, but I hope you'll give it another go.

Padme had given up her protesting abut halfway down the wooden walkway. She was not used to being man handled, but given it was her husband, she rather enjoyed it.

He set her down as the walkway bled into the white sand of the beach. He watched as she dug her feet into the sand and let hit roll from her foot.

?What are you doing?? he asked, truly perplexed.

?I?m feeling the warmth of the sand on my feet,? she said, pleasure crossing her face.

    ?It feels good?? he asked.

    ?Yes, heavenly.?

?Hmm?? he grumbled, balking at taking a step onto the beach.

?Come on, Ani, let?s go down to the water. You many not like the hot sand, but can you bear it long enough to get to the water??

He looked uncertain, so she figured she would have to use some dirty tactics.

?This is the Hero With No Fear?? she asked, arching an eyebrow and giggling. ?Come and get me,Hero.?

She turned and began running toward the frothy green waves crashing on the beach. He watched as the tassels of her sarong bandied about in the wind. His inner debate lasted only moments. Throwing caution and discomfort to the wind, he gave chase.

Before long, the two had set their towels half in the dry warm sand and half in the cool, wet sand. Anakin?s heels dug into the wet beach.

?You?re right,? he said turning to Padme. ?This does feel good.?

?See, I told you so,? Padme said playfully.

?I bet you?ve been waiting to ?tell me so? for some time,? he said picking up the playfulness, rolling into her and placing his fingers on her waist. He started tickling her.

?Hey!? she said, laughing hysterically. ?No?f-fair! Stop it, Ani!?

As the two wrestled in the sand, and it began to make its way into uncomfortable places, Anakin stopped and stood quickly. He felt the object coming, but decided to let it come. A moment later, a volleyball pegged him in the head.

?OW!? He shouted, feigning injury. As Padme got to her feet he started rubbing his head.

?The lady asked you to stop,? said a muscular man approaching at a run.

    Anakin rolled his eyes.

?And, I?m asking you to stop, before someone gets hurt,? replied Anakin as the man stopped a couple of feet away.

Anakin?s face had hardened and Padme recognized that their relaxing day at the beach would be gone if she didn?t act fast.

?Really, sir, we were just having fun,? She interjected into the testosterone flowing between.

?Not that it was any of your business,? Anakin added, now spoiling for a fight.

?The lady looked liked she was in trouble,? the man replied. ?I was just trying to help.?

?I appreciate that, sir, but everything is fine here,? Padme replied. ?Right, Anakin??

Anakin looked at her sharply and then back the interloper.

?Anakin?? he said, recognition dawning on his face. ?Anakin Skywalker??

?Yes, that?s me,? Anakin said. ?Now, would you please leave us in peace??

?Sure thing. Sorry to interrupt. Enjoy the beach.?

As the self proclaimed ?hero? retreated, Anakin looked at Padme.
?Why did you have to mention my name?? He asked, disappointed.

?Because I didn?t want you to rearrange his face,? she replied. ?I didn?t have to be a Jedi to see that coming.?

    ?I guess you?re right.?

?Now,? she added, with a mischievous smile. ?Let take a dip, before the other dip comes back for an autograph. By the way, this sand really chafes.?

He picked her up. She patted his chest, and the two Force bounded into the crashing waves. When they came up from the water, their mouths were already meshed together in a passionate kiss.

?Yes, that?s me,? Anakin said. ?Now, would you please leave us in peace??

?Sure thing. Sorry to interrupt. Enjoy the beach.?

And I'm sure Anakin didn't use any amount of Force-persuasion to get him to say that. :p

I liked how Padme got Anakin to brave his disgust of the sand, and how he discovered that...hey, it wasn't so bad after all, especially when mixed with the wonderful sound of waves crashing and that lovely salty smell.

    A very fun little ficcy. :D [face_dancing]

I love that Padme got him to get over his dislike of sand. She has him so twisted around her fingers.

    Wonderful fic!=D=
