Today, I became a father. Usually, it?s the woman who knows first, or suspects. But in our case, I asked Breha if she would like to have a daughter with me. She didn?t ask any questions, she just said yes. ?Bring our daughter home.?

And I did.

Leia.

Leia Organa.

She?s perfect. She?s beautiful.

She?s loud.

We love her.

Tonight was the first night that Leia slept in her new home. I could not sleep for many reasons. Mostly joy, but sadness too. Grief for Padmé, for the galaxy. But not for Anakin.

So I went to peek in on Leia and Breha followed me. She could not sleep either.

We just watched her sleep. Our daughter. Our home.

So there is sadness yes, but that is not all we feel. We feel like a family.

I thought that the difficult part of becoming a family would be getting used to taking care of a baby. I was wrong.

The difficult part of becoming a family is?well, [i]family[/i]! By the expression on my aunts? faces, you would have thought Breha and I had told them we were adopting a baby Hutt. That lasted until the nurse brought in Leia and handed her to Breha.

My wife, bless her wisdom, immediately put Leia into my oldest aunt?s arms.

That was all it took. And baby Hutt or not, Leia was one of the family. I hope to the gods that all of Alderaan will love her as much as we do.

Breha and I decided that no one must know of Leia?s true parentage, no one except us, no matter how trusted. So we?ve come up with a story that is acceptable and believable. Hopefully, in time, no one will remember how Leia arrived, simply that she?s ours and we love her.

Observation: babies do not, in fact, sleep like babies. They sleep like restless, itchy idimiian puppies, which means with a lot of noise and movement. This is going to take some getting used to.

 

Lovely becoming a family and babies they are just that.

Yuppers, where did that expression come from?? I've always said I sleep like a rock which makes sense because rocks are hard--but sleeping like a baby--this means you wake up often hungry or having to go potty
