A cape does wonder for imagery on a person. The red commander from the first cartoons had a persona onscreen, as did Ewan. Calrissian and Hayden make it work.

See "The Incredibles" re: the danger o' capes.

    Besides, that's a kama, not a cape.

Feh. It's probably some absurd bit of pseudo-nostalgia invented by a Sunesi businessman who bought some part of MandalMotors after the Great Sith War.

Karen, if you're reading this, I urge you to read "The Highland tradition of Scotland" by Hugh Trevor Roper, in The Invention of Tradition, ed. Eric Hobsbawm and Terence Ranger...

If you haven't already, that is... [face_blush]

I never read books, but I do believe I used that one to get my garden bonfire going.

Karen: your loss. I guess the ARCs will just have to run around in kamas, then.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, obviously... :p

    I toldja!

    Capatin Fordo (A-77)

Captain Fordo led a multiclone task force known as The Muunilinst 10 to capture a Seperatist artillery emplacement at Muunillinst. For that operation, he was given the titel Task Force Commander (not a rank, but a title) and though shot down in enemy territory, Fordo led a squad of two ARC lieutenants and seven infantry clones to the headquarters of San Hill. With Obi-Wan Kenobi, they captured the Seperatist leader and defeated bounty hunter Durge in combat.

He then led 10 lieutenants in an emergency rescue of several Jedi at Hypori. Utilizing the aggressive over-the-top tactics he had become famous for, Fordo included one ARC heavy gunner and a battlefield-issue quad gunner. Captain Fordo favored sheer firepower over fancy strategy, and subtlety was never his strong point.

For his efforts, Capatin Fordo was awarded the Chancellor's Service Medal, which he refused and posthumously to CT-43/002, a fallen member of The Muunilinst 10.

Scotland's main contributions to human technology have been putting a third drone onto the two-drone bagpipes the Romans left behind, all-metal pistols that could be made without using expensive fancy wood for the grips, haggis, and breakfast cereal.

...Oh, yeah, BIG heavy swords; and the best of all, "Uis Gbeatha" --- Scotch Whiskey.

    May I add:

    1. Irn Bru (diet version, but the old really metallic stuff was better)
    2. Fried Mars Bars.
    3. The word "scunner".
    4. Glasgow taxi drivers, Nature's comedian-diplomats.

"Irn-Bru"? As a major Scots contribution to world culture and/or cuisine?

    [image=http://www.screensaverjapan.com/etc/poster/poster1.jpg]

(Although I HAVE had the misfortune of overhearing a bunch of pishers blargling the "Ode Tae Glesga" once.)

Now, the "Captain Pugwash Died For Your Sins Cabal"...that's a different kettle of rice altogether.

Leto, we're on the subject of cloned paramilitary sheep on the GAR thread. I thought of you immediately...

Figured you would. (Clone paramilitary sheep versus The Lamb-Racker, though?)

From deep in the recesses of my e-mails, here is a bawdy song learnt by a female friend during her wenching days for the Madrigal...

Bring me my sheep, oh Mother,
No, not my brother, Mother --
Bring me my sheep for I am lonely tonight
Bring me my sheets of rubber
    Bring me my peanut butter
England is pure, and Scotland depraved.

(chorus -- "Baa"s to the tune...bagpipe sounds help!)

That's the first verse. There are more.

McEwok is currently organising a collection to pay you not to share them, I think.

    No dollars, though, please.

Be sure to have Thrawnie McHooligan convert that donation-pan over to the Kuwaiti Riyal -- at present, the hardest currency in the world, minted of gold, and not getting any inflation to speak of, for some reason.

(There's a reason Saddam invaded them in the first place, and tweren't necessarily the oil...)
