Happy Friday, all! Here's Chapter 7...it's a cliffie...

    ~*~

    Chapter 7: Queen Veila Fel

Tahiri crossed her legs, wringing her hands. She looked towards the fireplace. The flames licked at the logs, sending sparks flying to their doom on the hard, cold floor.

?I was wed to Jag on the advice of his lover, Jaina Solo. She?d had some sort of premonition about the next mission the Jedi were to go on right after Elena?s first birthday. She insisted that Jag be married. In fact, she begged. She believed that she was going to die, and if Jag loved another by that time, it wouldn?t be so hard on him."

?I, personally, thought it was a bunch of bantha poodoo. I mean, Jag was okay, I guess, for a friend, anyway. There was no way I wanted to marry him! But when Jaina told her mother the idea, I knew I was in for it. Leia heard the word ?courtship? and was sent into a mad frenzy preparing for me to date the pilot."

?He and I went on a few dates?to the Terrace Gardens, the Greenlee House, and the Winery on Pone. We had an okay time. There was just no chemistry, in my mind. But in his?"

?On our last date he took me above the site at Myrkyr. The spot where my beloved had laid dying of wounds I could not bear for him. Oh, Milo...? Tahiri spoke my name like running water trickling out from a spring; cool and refreshing, clear and clean. Her honesty was touching.

?He asked me if I could give all this up and love him for all time. I lied. I confessed my love for him and kissed him. But it wasn?t the same. Nothing in the world compared to the way my lips intertwined with Anakin?s. There was nothing that could make me love Jag. There was nothing that ever could, and there is nothing that ever will."

?To make a long story short, he proposed that night, and as soon as I left his hearing range I ran to the queen?s suite sobbing like there was no tomorrow. She wasn?t used to comforting others, but she did the best she could. She, too, was a woman of her word; if she had promised a friend she would do something for them, even if it caused her death, she would have completed her task. I knew there was no way to free myself from the clutches of my words. The next day, I proceeded into the ballroom and married the man of my nightmares.?

?Did you know about his vast wealth and power at that time??

?No. Jaina had known, but that awful brat left out that small detail. At least I, like Queen Djo, was permitted to keep my own last name because my husband could be called away to fight, and he was considered royalty. Later on I was told the tale of Jag?s investments in chromite dust, and that due to his new ranking in the Galactic Empire, he would be crowned King of Ikot on Dathomir. Thanks again, Jaina, for leaving out that minor detail,?

I pitied the woman. Sent through all that pain, all that torture?wait! She?d be rich?why would that make her miserable? I wish I could go back in time and hit myself for thinking that. Stay with me, here; I was a young man with a lust for wealth and women.

?Jag had the ceremony scheduled three days before his crowning, which left three days for a honeymoon. I was escorted down the aisle by Soontir Fel. He talked to me the whole way to try and keep me from crying; he just made it worse by saying that this must be the happiest day of my life. From that point on, I had a waterfall rushing down my face. There was a puddle around my white gown. That dress was so elaborate that I had to be sewn into it just to sew everything else on. Jag just smiled and said his vows; mine came out like another language through my tears. All I could see was a man in the back row that looked familiar. He was the only one crying.?

There was a long pause as she wiped her eyes. I wanted to say something, but what could be said? Emotional trauma like that runs deep. In the end, I spoke first.

?I am sorry that you were made to go through such an ordeal.?

<Alright, pause. That RIGHT there is a STUPID reporter mistake. Anyone catch that line about th

    Yeesh,

I agree that it isn't really how I saw Jag, but it is your story. I also don't think Tahiri would let anyone push her into anything.

HOWEVER, your wording is fabulous and beautiful!!

To Everyone: It's not that Jag is that bad, that's just how Tahiri is seeing him. As his problems avalanche downwards, however, he succumbs to the advantages of being wealthy and loses himself. Trust me, he's not as bad as he seems now...you'll hear more about Jag later in the story, I promise. It wasn't that he didn't love her...! More on that as our story progresses. [face_devil] I love to leave you guys hanging.

I'll reply a bit later! Chapter 8 soon!

No, I won't kill him...that's not my style. To me, killing off a charcter is saying that you can't do anything alse with him/her and that you're not a good enough author to try. Unless, of course, that character has to to complete a major part of the story---then and only then is it acceptable.

Killing a character is an excuse!!!

Besides, Jag has an important use in this story.

Oh what a tangled web. Poor Tahiri, poor Jag - both victims in their own way. Relationships can be a nightmare.

Poor Jacen, too. Never got to see his baby. :(

Beautiful language especially in ch 7.

The flames licked at the logs, sending sparks flying to their doom on the hard, cold floor. Great image.

Oh, Milo...? Tahiri spoke my name like running water trickling out from a spring; cool and refreshing, clear and clean. Another lovely image.

I'm enjoying the voice-over - and of course am waiting to see who the mysterious man at the back was. ;)

Otago colours? Otago's the name of the province Ilive in. There's quite a bit of provincial rivalry here. ;)

    Reader Replies:

Marsa: I agree that it isn't really how I saw Jag, but it is your story. In Chapter 8 I show Jag in a diferent light. You'll see.

I also don't think Tahiri would let anyone push her into anything. Well, keep in mind that Tahiri is suffering during this time between Myrkr and Jaina's premonition(more on that later.) She's feeling an emptiness, and, as you know from reading the books, when Tahiri has an emptiness inside, she can't really cope with the rest of herself. So when Jaina tells Tahiri about her premonition, Tahiri figures that she'll redeem herself in everyone's eyes after the fact that she was sent away(which makes her feel like a weakling, like she can't keep up with her old friends.) So you see, it's not in Tahiri's nature to let people push her around, but in different times, she'll let herself push her into something.

HOWEVER, your wording is fabulous and beautiful!! [face_blush] Thank you.

YK: that certainly took a dark turn. Jag beating his wife? poor Tahiri! It was a dark turn, yes, but there's hope. ;)

I proceeded into the ballroom and married the man of my nightmares.?

That line made me laugh for some reason
    Understandable. But imagine if you were about to marry Jag. 8-}

Dev: I can see that you don't like Jag. But this is just getting more and more strange. Strange in a good way? :( And it's not that I don't like Jag; he's ok in this story.

Whitey: You made Jag seem horrible... I love it. Thanks! lol

    stupid Jaina Preach it, brother!

Wes: I answered your question below your post.

M_P: That was sooo good, but me no like cliffies! lol, me either! But I had to give you one.

Great job, I love this. [face_blush] Much obliged.

Tahi: May I say first, Tahi, that your replies are always lovely!

Oh what a tangled web. Poor Tahiri, poor Jag - both victims in their own way. Relationships can be a nightmare. You know me: I love the tangled web. Relationships can be such nightmares---especially this one...or so you thought. [face_devil] Oh, what a tangled web I weave...

Poor Jacen, too. Never got to see his baby. That is a tragedy. I hated to add that in.

Beautiful language especially in ch 7. [face_blush] Thank you very much! i pride myself in my language. If nothing else, I'd use adjectives all day long! I'd never get anywhere. lol!

and of course am waiting to see who the mysterious man at the back was. *throws confetti* You win 'Most Attentive Reader'!!! I was waiting for someone to pick up on that.

Otago colours? Otago's the name of the province I live in. There's quite a bit of provincial rivalry here. Ah. Thanks for the fill-in.
