    ;)

I see that I'm not the only one that has thought of this. He would need an apprentice too. Rule of two and all. Max Rebo is out of work......

I totally agree with Keynote23's latest post. This isn't about Fett (though I'm not indifferent myself, i love him) this is about adding much needed tension and character growth for Han and Leia. It's an easy idea to make fun of, but i totally can see it being an improvement.
I don't want him replacing any scout troopers though, they're my other favorite star wars thing aesthetically, ha.

I feel tension the way it is, I still feel it to this day. R2 gets blasted, Leia takes a hit.....then Chewie saves the day. We know Han and Leia will ultimately be fine, they're two of the big three. We knew this throughout the trilogy when the Falcon was getting beat up, we knew they'd be alright. It doesn't make it any less tense.

Dangerous? He got pwned by a blind man and a hole in the ground.

What success? He followed the Falcon to Bespin and reported them to the Empire, Vader did the rest. Vader and the stormtroopers did all the work, Fett just escorted Han's carbon-frozen body to his cargo bay and delivered him to Jabba. Fett was a delivery boy.

    ?

Han is the leader of the ground assault team. The entire fleet is depending on him. "Han will have that shield down, we gotta give him more time!" "C'mon Han old buddy, don't let me down."

If you feel that way about things good for you. But for me personally RotJ has room for improvement. Allow me...

Knowing they'll all be ok IMHO isn't a good thing. It deprives the film of tension. One of ESB's strengths is to engage the audience by creating doubt about the fate of the characters which helps to engage the audience. Han being frozen and carried off, fate uncertain, is a plus because we worry. Lawrence Kasdan's opinion was that one of the big three should be killed off early so you'd start to worry about everyone. I think killing one off would've been too much but sending in a bigger threat than anonymous stormtroopers would've been a better move.

And a dark lord of the sith with 30 some odd years training (light and dark) got pwned by a backwater farmboy with less than a week's training under his belt.

And a hotshot pilot who apparently can't keep his hyperdrive straight and stops to make repairs MID-CHASE and WITH HIS CO-PILOT mind you is somehow able to outrun and outfly 4 fighters and 3 star destroyers.

And 3 star destroyers despite plenty of empty space around them and 36,000 crewers apiece are somehow able to collide in the vastness of deep space.

And a massive planet-destroying battle station has one of the most ridiculous design flaws in the history of well....ever.

Lesson of the day:Stupid things apparently to skilled people all the time in the SW universe.

Actually, despite all the competition, Fett was the only one smart enough to deduce how Han might hide. That makes him smarter than basically every single Imperial present at the time which numbers some 100,000 plus people and not a few seasoned commanders and even Darth Vader. Don't you think that he deserves some credit for tracking and anticipating? Good traits in a hunter wouldn't you say?

I don't know what kind of "delivery boys" exist in your world but I certainly don't trust mine to predict the actions of dangerous fugitives, get to their destination ahead of said fugitives and basically do what the standing army of the universe can't seem to figure out.

Apparently the delivery boys in your neighborhood must have some pretty impressive skills.

And that's all he is. That's the problem. He's got no other storyline now that's pesonal to him and him specifically.

In Star Wars he's a shady gun-for-hire and a potential suitor for Leia. Really just a secondary character.

In Empire he's evolved into a Rebel Captain and is the love interest for the leading lady. He's a primary character now with a bounty on his head (something we knew but didn't really deal with in ANH). Thus he gets his rebel storyline, his "hunted" storyline and his "courtship" storyline.

In RotJ he's just a rebel leader but there's no personal story to him anymore.
    The bounty story is finished
The romance was erased by the whole sister thing

He's less than he was by virtue of the fact he has fewer issues to his name. Thus watching him isn't as interesting because there are no personal obstacles left in his way.

All the principles and secondary characters have to deal with the war thing but Leia also gets to deal wi

It could have been better, I just don't think your suggestion would be an improvement.

At this point, realistically I don't think there is any way to improve it.

Check out adywan's "Star Wars Revisted". The Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel in particular is much improved.

    Also
Greedo blinks and the blown up dummy has been replaced
The tie fighter escape is more dynamically shot
Flaws in the Yavin battle have been fixed
A lot of the masks in the Cantina scene now have subtle facial movements
Vader's brown-ish eyes have all been recolored to black to fit with the other films
The training sequence now features a properly colored lightsaber
As well as many other things.

I agree with about 80% of the changes myself. A few are excessive but most are pretty cool.

He's actually working on Empire now.

I don't care about superficial changes. Honestly I'd rather retain those little visual imperfections.

To each their own. For my part I don't mind any change that's merely an effects clean-up or just an improved version of what they were trying to do initially (improved being a relative term of course) but just weren't in a position to pull off. I also accept most things that are simply meant to make the look of the films more consistent between each chapter (i.e. Vader's eyes, lightsaber colors, etc.)

Star Wars and Empire are basically perfect to me at their fundamental story and pacing level. RotJ is probably my favorite of the three but as I've grown older I've come to see how it's also got the most problems in terms of consistency of tone and character development and how much disbelief I'm asked to suspend.

Seriously though, as a point of interest you should check out adywan's take on ANH. He's not a hater, he just spent a lot of time touching things up in a lot of interesting ways. Something the flanneled one himself has been known to do from time to time. ;)

I just want to be able to show the films to my kids one day and not have them say something like "hey dad, what's that funny black line around the rancor"

As long as a new shot doesn't break my sense of immersion or the pacing I'm (usually) fine with it.

Actually, I think the rancor on the official DVD version looks better than it did in the past.

I don't really see what one can do with ROTJ. Come to think of it, I don't know what one can do with the flaws of the other films. Why demand perfection, when one has six rather entertaining movies to enjoy? Perfection doesn't exist anyway.
