    A Helping Hand

Alderaan had been saved by the Republic, for now. Darth Malgus had led the Sith victoriously until a few brave Republic Troopers arrived on the scene. Now left for dead underneath crushing, excruciating boulders, Malgus stewed in his hatred. His hatred, his passion, his powerful knowledge of the dark side is what was keeping him alive. It kept his heart pumping and somehow air in his lungs even though the rocks made oxygen a precious gift.

Surrounded by the pitch black darkness of everything around him, Malgus rested and bided his time. For even the Sith must rest and regroup. He pictured her in his mind?s eye the entire time. He thought of the young Jedi who had shown up to save the defeated Troopers. The Jedi he had all but defeated until she showed amazing power and threw him into the bottom of the cliff, bringing it down upon him. She tore it down around him and he was helpless to do anything for those few seconds. He had been weak and that only fueled his anger more.

He now understood what the Dark Council had been reminding him of.

?We must never be content with our own power. Surely even the Emperor grows stronger each and every day, even after hundreds of years of growing.?

Yes, he would grow stronger. One day he would have his revenge and until he did he would seek it. He would let the fire of it consume him, drawing upon his bottomless pit of hatred. This would not be his end. He would rather the Emperor himself strike the final blow upon him. That would be a glorious death, one worth striving for.

A Jedi would not be the doom of Darth Malgus. Not today. Not any day.

Hours passed and then days. Malgus had awoken from his dark slumber, angrier and more set on revenge than ever. The exhaust of a ship landing had disturbed him. Or was it the dark presence he felt onboard the shuttle.

Regardless, even under the pile of suffocating rocks he was aware, awake, and ready. Perhaps he would never see his revenge unfold. Perhaps the Emperor had come to deliver that glorious death?

One rock lifted from atop another. The weight on Malgus? back lessened but was still considerable. One by one the rocks lifted. It was an agonizing experience. Malgus had almost been use to the initial weight of the rocks but now as they lifted it allowed his body more freedom, inch by inch. The ability for his muscles and skin to flex and breathe sent jolts of horrendous pain throughout his body. He had been hit with dark Force lightning a time or two in his youth but this was somehow even worse.

They were playing a game with him and he knew it. While it angered him he knew that was the goal. The one whom had come to his aide was obviously powerful, his aura seeped through the rocks and surrounded Malgus with dark energy. It would have been all too easy to brush aside the boulders and help him onto a medical capsule but that wouldn?t suffice.

Rock after dreadful rock and finally Malgus could see the moons of Alderaan up above. He did not move his head, only his eyes. The moons disappeared when a cloaked figured stepped in front of him.

?You failed, Malgus.? The Emperor hissed.

Malgus tried to speak but found that he could not. The rocks had crushed him worse than he originally thought. He tried to move his fingertips and also found it impossible.

?You should be dead!? The Emperor told him. ?Even in the most humiliating of defeats you show impressive power.?

Lying there at the feet of his Emperor, he tried to move, tried to do anything. He was paralyzed from the neck down. It was all he could do to blink.

?Speak to me through the Force, Malgus.? The Emperor demanded. ?If you so wish it, I can grant you the releas

=D= Well-done angsty piece. I like how the Sith Emperor tries to break him.
