JCC A Herstory of the JC

lets crowd source a history of the Jedi Council Forums from the perspective of the women that made it great. ill get us started off with a few basic facts:

the first registered user to designate "female" as their gender was FettFan6969. they never posted

the first Lady Moderator (that was her official title, a sign of how much things have changed) was ThrawnChick22. she was promoted to mod the newly christened "Linens 'n' Things" subforum, an early precursor to today's Costuming and Props subforum. she served admirably for 5 months before succumbing to tuberculosis and being replaced by a man

forums administrators recognized the right of women to vote in polls forumswide on March 28th, 2001, the successful culmination of the "Jedi Suffragette" movement, as it was called at the time. earlier successes of the movement secured more localized voting rights in the Fan Force Australia subforum, as well as in the Linens 'n' Things subforum under the sympathetic moderatorship of ThrawnChick22

is that another early "Lady Mod"? can you share her story for posterity?

why do you think she would be so opposed to a women's history thread? was she under a lot of pressure to fit in as a moderator, leading to internalized sexism?

 

The first woman to break the glass ceiling on the 50,000 post mark was DarthJaina91. She accomplished this feat primarily via participation in the Person Above Me thread.

First female JCer to come out of the closet as a male was Tessark.

 

Provided their husbands gave them permission of course.

 

I wouldn't mind a non parody thread that recounted the actual history of the JCC with a few jokes mixed in.

 

I'm still waiting for Rogue1.5's "A People's History of the Senate Reform."

 

I've always wondered who was the first TFN user to get perma banned.

Don't know who was first, but I can tell you there are over 22,000 permabanned IDs. That would include spamvertisers and other undesirables.

Edit - I went to the last page of the permaban user list. Since it's roughly newest first, this should be one of the oldest. (Board conversion might have messed the dates up). Looks like it was a spamvertiser banned back in 2001.

 

Over 22,000! Even Master Yoda hasn't permabanned that many spamvertisers and other undesirables.

No, but it would be cool to hear from those who have been here since the beginning, and what those users remember from year to year. Remember the search feature? That worked some of the times.

 

then please make your own thread for it instead of derailing the ONLY thread dedicated to women's history on the jc. thanks in advance

 

I wouldn't mind TTT getting hit with an extra long ban. One year perhaps.

 

it would be nice to see the mods do their actual jobs and at least warn off users like TiniTinyTony and I Are The Internets when they try to derail this thread, instead of actively aiding them
