Lit A Jedi Rule of Two or more?

For better or for worse, the powers that be wiped out Lukes Academy to place strong importance again on Luke being the Last Jedi, and the role Rey plays.

But I wonder if this very small world of Jedi will continue to be a reality after the ST is finished.

What if, in-universe it is intentionally kept small in the future? With maybe more then 2, but still a small group.

Luke can learn about the ancient Jedi. Knowing that significant groups of darksiders have broken away from the large Jedi of the past. He might believe that creating a Academy created a target on the backs of many, feeling some responsibility for their deaths. Maybe Ben Solo's fall could have been avoided if Luke focused all of his training/teaching on just 1 student.

It could also be Disneys way of keeping to having differences to the Legends NJO while further distinguishing a post ST world to the PT and ToR eras.

How would you feel if this practice of keeping the jedi small kept happening beyond the ST?

Is that a better path then having a future generation of jedi grow to large numbers (up to 100 or more)?

What if they mix it up, have it in Rey's life time maintain small numbers of Jedi but if Disney ever gave us a far future "Legacy", have the jedi order restored to higher numbers.

 

Why did the Sith adapt the Rule of Two? Because their civilization was destroyed and their enemies held galactic power. Jedi appropriating the Rule of Two would only make sense if the First Order or something equally hostile took the galaxy.

 

With it looking like they are going to be taking a break from the episodic movies for a time and focus on something else I think by the time they come back to Rey's story she will be running her own acadamey.

 

They could continue more of Rey even while the new trilogy is released. Anthologies may still be happening even then. Of course with literature and live action Star Wars tv happening, plenty of chances to see more of Rey while another era is being fleshed out.

 

I would be all for a Rule of Two or More. It seems very flexible.
