This is an original poem about anakin's descent to the dark side.) Disclaimer: The character for whom this poem was inspired, is owned by Lucas Films. Thanks, EH

    A Limb In The Field

    His soul cast
    like dusk into night
    decisions made
    as goodness fades
and morning brings his hate to light
    in jealousy there is pain
    as innocence is slain,
a descent into darkness, where evil reigns...
and true love marks the ground
    in red blood stains

    chivarly lost
like a lamb to the fields
    when a man succumbs,
to the very sword that he wields
    each limb a-tossed
    to the open field
    we cut our own faces
with the swords that we wield.

    Like a flower into dirt
    like salt into hurt
    like rain into a sky
    like tears into an eye
    like a rise into descent
    where nothing makes sense,
like a seed into a flower
    or an empire into power...

    chivarly lost
like a lamb in the fields
    when a man succumbs,
to the very sword that he wields
    each limb a-tossed
    to the open field
    we cut our own faces
with the swords that we wield.

    What a fantastic poem Isenseaplot!!

I really enjoy and love poetry, and this was so beautifully written, it's both haunting and eerie, and also has an air of tragedy about it.. the flow is simply great!

I hope you post more poetry soon, cos this is terrific!

First stanza: what a description of Anakin's descent into darkness!
and true love marks the ground
    in red blood stains
    :_|

Second stanza: this is very powerful, and my favourite.

    we cut our own faces
with the swords that we wield.
    how true it is. :(

The repetition of this gives for an eerie, haunting feel.
what I especially like is how it isn't so specific as to who it is talking about, it could be anyone...

    I love it!

ha, thanks JOINME. I guess the poem doesn't reference anakin by name lol , b ut here is a breakdown of it by line:

    His soul cast
    like dusk into night

[he sold his soul to the devil, "dusk" representative of anakin being somewhat good, and somewhat evil, as dusk teeters day, and night. In turning to the dark side, he is no longer "dusk", but fully night.]

    decisions made
    as goodness fades
and morning brings his hate to light

[he made the decision/sacrifice to save padme, in his own selfishness, the goodness in him faded, and morning brings his hate to light , ie, the truth always comes to light as those who remained realized he was behind the chaos at the temple] in jealousy there is pain [his jealousy of obi and padme, suspicion that she betrayed him]

    as innocence is slain,
a descent into darkness, where evil reigns...

[here he becomes truly evil, having already killed the innocent children at the temple, and completed his descent in choking his wife to near death]

and true love marks the ground
    in red blood stains

[true love, being that she came to mustafar because she loved him, he was on mustafar doing evil because he loved her, things come to a head, which ultimately leads to her death (spilled blood, since she ultimately dies by his hands) and he is maimed - this is the path to which "true love" has led them)

    chivarly lost

[chivarly, his near chaste relationship with padme, friendship to obi and their jedi comrades, I think king arthur kn ights of the round table here for some reason, that brotherly bond broken by his betrayal]

like a lamb to the fields

[a lamb, being innocent, and lost. Anakin was manipulated and decieved into darkness]

    when a man succumbs,
to the very sword that he wields

[biblical reference: a man who lives by the sword, dies by the sword]

    each limb a-tossed
    to the open field

[of course, the maiming, his limbs in the field, the little lost lamb has been slaughtered]

    we cut our own faces
with the swords that we wield.

[Anakin cut his nose, to spite his face]

[This verse below, narrates the silliness of turning from good to evil, and alludes to murder and mayhem being as senseless as "rain falling into the sky"]

    Like a flower into dirt
    like salt into hurt
    like rain into a sky
    like tears into an eye
    like a rise into descent
    where nothing makes sense,
like a seed into a flower
    or an empire into power...

[an empire into power, and its preceeding lines discuss the senselessness of evil over coming good, it's backwards in a way, as we want to believe, that goodness will prevail over evil.]

    chivarly lost
like a lamb in the fields
    when a man succumbs,
to the very sword that he wields
    each limb a-tossed
    to the open field
    we cut our own faces
with the swords that we wield.
