    Hi everyone,

Here's a little something I like to call the half term report. Its been about six months since I stepped into the CR shoes and thought I'd indulge myself with a few words to everyone just to recollect where we're at and what we're doing. Don't worry. I'll try to keep it short ;)

Since last November we've been pretty busy with a mixture of social events for ourselves and more organised events to bring our love of Star Wars to the wider community. Just looking through the archives I can see Christmas picnics, poker nights, beach days and sun burn, dinner's together and even a Good Friday party. We've supported visiting Fringe performers and shown them how Star Wars fans do things in Adelaide. We've visited kids at the Women's and Children's Hospital and at the McGuiness/McDermott Foundation Christmas party. And we've paraded along The Parade at Norwood and bought lots of smiles.

The Cancer Council of South Australia values our support in the Relay for Life, the Classic Adelaide Rally and the World Cancer Day Walk for a Cure. Usually these things take a fair bit of organising and sometimes it looks like we're always doing these charity events. But they are so worthwhile in the end both for the kids who get such a kick, the organisations who benefit from the money we raise and the sense of well being it gives to us.

And all that when SAFF is not a costuming club. We're lucky to have so many talented costumers and can call on support from the 501st and Novus Ordo to help out.

When you look back at the things done, just in that short time, its pretty amazing that this on-line group has so many real life activities. Even in the on-line world there's been a number of highlights. As we continue to chat, count, share news, and those 'special' links to strange videos, our post count burst through 100000 showing how active we are. Not to mention that a certain drinking establishment has post counts larger than some countries ;) And a big hello to all the interstate and international visitors who pop in from time to time and keep returning 'cause this is such a great place to visit. The SAFF web page has even been updated and Kooky is still doing a great job as the SAFF archivist with her web site and now putting the SAFF photobucket site together.

The merchandising is extrodinary and at this point to I'd like to make a special mention to _Master_Skywalker_. MS has done a terrific job catering to everyone's requests as well as taking it on himself to organise the business cards, pens and now a banner. Its not merely wanting to be the best dressed Fan Force in the world. Its all about creating a sense of community and being proud to belong.

None of this is much of my doing. No one person could possibly do it all. Its just a credit to everyone that you can take on all these jobs and attend events to keep things moving along and make the group the vibrant collection it is. SAFF is the people who make it up. Its the friends old and new who continue to share their love and passion for that galaxy far far away. I continue to be surpised at the efforts people put in and continue to learn the importance of good friends in my life.

In the near future we've got laser skirmish and Christmas in July to organise. SAFF is yours to make with what you will. There's no committee, no decrees from on high about policy. The TFN boards provide guidelines as to terms of usage and the aims of what a Fan Force is. The rest is up to us.

In this Easter season, amongst all the chocolates and buns, remember the bloke who kicked it all off. He had a lot of good things to say, especially about getting on with your neighbours. SAFF is a very varied neighbourhood. During this season of hope I wish we all continue to be the best we can, be tolerant of each other's shortcomings and give the respect that everyone deserves.

There, that wasn't too bad was it ;)

    Happy Easter everyone.

    Absolutely very well said D-M=D=

SAFF is just an AMAZING group of people that I am SO SO proud to know & socialise with.
The way we band together as a group to support charity events is just so terrific. Like I've said before, people have laughed at us, teased us & said some horrible comments to us, but this means nothing to me, what means everything to me is the friends I've made & the hopefully making a small change so I can leave the world a better (cancer free) place for our children.

As for the merchandising, thankyou so much for your kind words. I don't do any of it for the accolades ( though they are nice& very much appreciated- thankyou [face_blush] ) I just really have a passion for SAFF & all things SAFF.I am more than happy to continue doing everything I am doing as long as I am able. The list of merchandise has grown so much since the creation of SAFF shirts a long time back. I am hoping to have the banner done this week & I'll post pictures when I have it. I am really excited about having our own professional banner. I still have your pen D-M, if you'd like to PM your address I can post it to you or I can hang to it til the next event, either way's fine with me. THANKYOU so much to the people who have put in $'s to make the banner possible.

Lastly, thankyou to George Lucas ( cause I know he reads the SAFF boards ;) ) for the wonderful creation that has brought many many terrific people together that I will call my friends for the rest of my life. SAFF is the worlds best online group- of that I have absolutely no doubt. Thankyou everyone.

Agreed. SAFF is the greatest board there ever has been or will be. And i hope it never ends. I have not been here for as long as some but the time i have spent with eache of you has been highly enjoyable and just all around great. Doing charity events as often as we do makes me feel so good about myself. At the start i was sorta embarrased about dressing up as i had never done it before but now i would gladly wear a costume into any situation i am faced. This is the confidence you have given me.

    Thnakyou SAFF.

I can only echo DV's sentiments ... except about wearing a costume in any situation (don't want to unwillingly dob myself in for Miss Relay :p).

But certainly I don't have any problems wearing a costume in public anymore. We bind together and become a powerful force (no pun intended).

Plus whatever we do, whether it be for fun or charity or publicity, we're always doing good! I can't remember when a negative result has come out of any event we've done.

Whether we're in costume or not, we're loud, we're noticeable (those shirts ;)) ... we're SAFF!

    You Suck!

Dude your a horrible CR, I mean boss,

First and foremost, take all the credit. If you want to be feared and respected then you must be strict.

take all the credit and demand more out of the hired help. Especially if they are volunteering. They are exploitable cheap labor.

The Sith exploited any all labour oportunities and took all credit.

model bosses you should be, not something else like a pansy nice guy.

oh and can you get some hotties in the bar, seriously you need at least a decent looking wench to serve us.

Something along the lines of a hooters girl. Or at least maybe one of the race gals from the clipsal 500. Is it to much to ask.

anyway you are doing a great job.

just thought I would be able to get something a bit better in the bar.

oh and can you get some cute nurses in the hospital too.

    Hurrah :)

After being involved in various Internet fora for years, I thought I'd be sick of it by now.

    Not likely....go SAFF :)

DM means, Beez, that don't expect service at the Inn anytime soon. [face_not_talking]

I'll have you know I resent the insinuation that the Meanders Inn bar staff is not good looking enough, especially being head Bar-Wench.

Oh, and yes, go SAFF! So much good work for many more years to come.=D=
