Uh-oh. Padmé walked into some trouble. Finding Senator Zar dead doesn't bode well. I agree with VA_Parky, whoever did this is sending as message.

And she was so excited about her date with Anakin too. This is going to either cause a distraction during that or she's going to cancel.

I don't think Padme will be making her date tonight.

Love the story so far, ladies! I especially liked the moment Padme and Anakin shared when talking about aggressive negotiations. Very sad but sweet. I'm also happy to see Padme keeping an open mind about Palpatine's possible nefarious doings. Smart woman - I think it's too much to hope that won't get her into trouble.

 

I see Palpy's name written all over Fang Zar's death but can
anyone prove it? On the other hand, I wonder if one of the
Senators did this so they can point the finger at Palpy.

Well this certainly isn't good!

Padme arrived at Fang Zar?s office to find the reception desk empty. ?Perhaps she went home for the evening,? she thought knocking on the door to the office.

?Hello?? she called out opening the door. ?Senator Zar??

Padme stepped inside the office and froze in horror at the sight before her. Fang Zar?s lifeless body was slumped over his desk, blood oozing from the blaster shot to his temple. Who could have done this and what was their motive? Padme was going to find out.


Uh oh.

 

This story is very interesting so far and very original. I like the interaction with Anakin and Padme and the fact that they can openly see each other doens't hurt either.

Chapter 6

Anakin maneuvered his way through the throngs of people quickly filling up the Senate corridors on his way to Chancellor Palpatine?s office. He had been preparing for his date with Padme when news of Senator Fang Zar?s death reached the Jedi Council. And of course that meant that the entire city was buzzing and speculating about who murdered him.

Anakin?s heart ached at the thought of Padme experiencing the horror of finding the Senator?s body. Though he knew she?d seen her fair share of devastation during her years of relief work, she should have been shielded from such things here. Then another disturbing thought occurred to Anakin: what if the murderer saw her? Would this individual go after her now for some reason? Then he realized that he just being paranoid and that he needed to stop speculating about things that might not happen.

As he approached the Chancellor?s office, the guards on duty simply stepped aside, allowing him to enter without going through the customary clearance routine. Padme was alone, seated on one of the couches, her head in her hands. Instantly his heart jumped in his throat; it disturbed him so greatly to see her in such a state.

?Padme!? Anakin ran to her, gathering her into his arms. ?Are you all right?? he whispered against her ear.

Padme nodded, hugging Anakin tightly. ?What are you doing here?? she asked taking a step back and eyeing him in confusion.

?I wanted to make sure you were okay,? Anakin replied with a lopsided grin. ?And the Chancellor requested the Jedi lead the investigation into Senator Zar?s death.?

Padme blinked in surprise. ?I didn?t realize the Jedi got involved in suspicious deaths.?

?Normally we don?t,? Anakin said honestly. ?But the Chancellor explained a normal senatorial investigation probably wouldn?t satisfy his constituents on Sern Prime.?

?No, it probably wouldn?t,? Padme agreed. She remembered how beloved Fang Zar was among the people he represented. ?And you?re part of the investigative team,? she added, her heart sinking. ?It?ll be twice as hard to keep my own investigation from him,? she thought sadly.

?Sort of,? he paused. ?I?m actually leading the investigation.?

Padme was shocked into silence. ?Oh,? she breathed. ?Make that three times as hard,? she groaned silently. She knew she wouldn?t be able to share any information she learned with him and vise versa. She could only hope they would both be able to discover the truth. Padme never thought that this investigation would start to become so complicated.

?I?ll have to question you, officially,? Anakin said softly. ?When you?re ready, of course. No rush.?

?I?m ready now,? Padme replied quickly. ?I might as well get this over with,? she thought glumly.

?Are you sure?? Anakin asked gently, taking her hand and squeezing it gently. ?We can do this tomorrow?,?

?I?m sure,? Padme interrupted.

Anakin nodded, sitting down beside her. His piercing blue gaze made butterflies start to flutter in her stomach. Vaguely she wondered how exactly he could do this to her all the time.

Padme smiled; he was still holding her hand, his thumb lightly caressing her palm.

?Did you notice anything suspicious when you went to Senator Zar?s office??

?The receptionist wasn?t there,? Padme answered. Closing her eyes, she replayed entering the office. ?And there weren?t any lights on in the office,? she paused swallowing the lump in her throat. ?I thought Senator Zar had gone home for a minute until I saw him?,? her voice trailed off as tears filled her eyes.

Anakin stroked her cheek tenderly. ?I?m so sorry you had to see that,? he whispered kissing her forehead.

Hee! I love Flustered!Padme! And Anakin certainly isn't making matters any easier, is he? I just adore those two together!

I must know - what in the world is Palpatine up to? And why does it seem that he is pushing Padme and Anakin together? Surely he must realize that Anakin is going to become fiercely protective of her... oh dear - several plot possibilities just opened up and none of them appear very good for Padme!

Padme is so smart, she's starting to distrust Palpatine.

Now if they can keep their hormones in check long enough to put two and two together, they will maybe have a better outcome.

I like this angle your taking. Of course the interaction between Anakin and Padme is the heart of the story and shows there's still a spark there, that will hopefully turn into a raging inferno very soon. Can I be added to your PM list?

?Um?no, thank you,? Padme replied, a slight blush forming on her cheeks. ?It?s?I?I?only live a few blocks away.? She turned and hastily left the office.

Oh, evil way to end this, well, I think so anyway, hmm, I wonder if Anakin was right when he thought that whoever did killed the Senator might be after Padmé now.

I definitely think Palps has a plan going on...and it has to involve Padme and Anakin ending up together...But are they going to help him, or does he want something from their relationship?...that is what I must figure out!
