Thanks for the pm. The chapter was great.

Anakin & Padme were sweet together. Way Anakin took his time with Padme was great. He was worried about her safety. Anakin was all to willing to see Padme tomorrow at her apartment.

Palpatine is trying to push Anakin & Padme together. Wonder what he is up to. I wounder is he trying to cover his tracks or push them together...

Hopefully Anakin & Padme will find out he is a sith lord soon.

 

Hmm, I'm puzzled at this point as to Anakins intentions - is he dark or light or grey at this point? Which way is he leaning?

oh man, this is getting nasty she is going to have to lie to Ani, because wherever he knows it or not, he is a bigger pawn is Palpatine's game than she is

 

Padmé finds herself in a real sticky situation with Anakin leading the investigation. I hope it doesn't cause trouble for them. Though, I have a feeling Palpatine will make sure it does.

It was so sweet how Anakin was concerned for her and wanted to comfort her, and hold off until later to question her. She should have agreed to that. Then he sticks his foor in his mouth. Poor guy. He was only trying to help, but it came out all wrong.

Another great chapter here. I'm really enjoying this.

 

Poor Anakin got flustered. A lovely chapter, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Padme sighed in defeat. She had been hoping to question some of the other Senators tonight but with Palpatine?s insistence she go home, there was no way she could pull it off. Not without making the Chancellor suspicious and that was the last thing she wanted.

?I?ll be off then,? she said heading towards the door.

?Can I take you home?? Anakin offered.

Padme shot him a startled look; 'did he actually say that?'

?Why did I say just say that?? Anakin groaned. ?Um?I..uh?I meant escort you home??

?Um?no, thank you,? Padme replied, a slight blush forming on her cheeks. ?It?s?I?I?only live a few blocks away.? She turned and hastily left the office.

He could take ME home!

I bet Palpatine's shooing her off so he can clean up after himself - I mean, the assassin. And no doubt he's delighted that she and Anakin are throwing sparks at each other. The more distracted they are, the easier he can slip his nefarious doings by them. Another great post, ladies!

Chapter 7

Padme shut the door to the Chancellor?s office and let out a deep breath of disappointment. Her head was spinning with the events of the evening and the frustration of being sent home when she was eager to begin her looking into Fang Zar?s death. ?I?m not some helpless little girl who can?t handle reality,? she thought angrily.

The memory of seeing such an appalling display continued to haunt her and Padme was determined to discover if Palpatine was in fact responsible. If he was she knew that proving such a thing would be even more difficult. Should the assassin catch her, the consequences would be severe indeed.

It didn?t help that Anakin was heading up the Jedi?s investigation. ?How am I supposed to discretely investigate the very same crime as a Jedi?? she moaned. A Senatorial investigator would have been easy enough to work around, it wouldn?t have even been a problem to wean information out of the investigator on the pretense of keeping the Chancellor informed but Anakin reported directly to Palpatine. He wouldn?t be so easily charmed.

?How did things become so complicated so fast?? she moaned wearily. ?Enough complaining, Padme,? she scolded herself, annoyed at her defeatist attitude. She would somehow find a way to investigate Fang Zar?s death and keep it from Anakin? ?I know I can do it,? she declared firmly. ?I will not allow my growing attraction to Anakin to interfere with my duty.?

Padme sighed when her thoughts started to turn to Anakin again. ?How can he keep my attention like this when I?m not even in the same room?? she wondered briefly. She couldn?t deny that she was captivated by him, but this mission was more important. She couldn?t let others meet Fang Zar?s fate.

?Miss Naberrie.? Bail Organa approached her slowly accompanied by several of his staff. ?I heard you were the one to discover Senator Zar this evening.? He took her hands into his. ?I?m very sorry for your experience and I hope you are coping all right.?

Padme felt the distinct pressure of a holo recorder being pressed into her palm. ?I?m fine, thank you Senator Organa.? She smiled warmly at him curling her fingers around the recorder as he released her hands. Vaguely she wondered why he was trying to communicate to her using a different method.

?I?m glad to hear that,? he replied. ?And I certainly hope you don?t let this evening?s unfortunate incident deter you from continuing your duties as the Chancellor?s aide. Good evening.? He nodded at her slightly and continued down the corridor.

Padme rushed to her small apartment as quickly as she could. Whatever information was contained on the holo recorder, it had to be vitally important for Bail to risk passing it to her in the heavily monitored Senate hallway. Settling into a comfortable chair, she turned on the recorder and watched intently as Bail?s image appeared.

?Padme.? His voice was grave, his face lined with grief. ?I apologize for contacting you this way instead of our agreed upon method but I?ve come across some information that leads me to believe Senator Zar was murdered and I would like you to do what you can to look into the events leading up to his death.?

?So I?m not the only one suspicious,? Padme thought.

?Last night, I contacted Senator Zar and asked him to meet with Senator Haiken to warn him about Palpatine?s plan to meet with all the Senators who opposed his latest legislation,? he paused, frowning. ?Zar met with him this afternoon.?

?So that?s why I couldn?t get in touch with him.? Padme braced herself, preparing for the rest of B

Thanks for the pm. The chapter was great.

Padme does not like Palpatine coddling her. She had a great respect for the murdered senator. I thought it was cute that she would not let her attraction to Anakin stand in her way heed investigation. She is really worried about the jedi investigation in her way to heed her investigation.

Bail is now starting to get desperate since the murdered senator changed his vote that morning.

I think Palpatine ordered his murder by his henchmen. He doesn't seem the typed to sullen his hands with the dirty work.

I guess we'll see.

I love Padme's internal battles... and she is very worried about Anakin leading the investigation... something is going to happen isn't it?

and Bail's beginning to suspect things as well as Padme...

I hope nothing happens to Bail... that would be awful...
