Just looked on the Del Rey site and New Dawn will be released in paperback on 3/31/15 and Tarkin on 6/30/15.
UK posters should try to obtain the US editions as the converted $ price can end up being significantly cheaper, but not all sellers can get them.
Star Wars: A New Dawn (Paperback) I noticed it first on Amazon, but it appears that Del Rey is raising the prices of the paperback novels from $7.99 to $9.99.
Dimensions aren't listed, but from the price and the proportions of the image, it looks like they're switching to the taller paperbacks used in the last few years for a lot of mysteries and thrillers. Surprisingly hard to find a decent pic but here's an example.
I have the Tarkin novel in hardcover so I'll pass about the paperback. Also for New Dawn I'll pass too. It reminds me of the stupid novels based on the newer Clone Wars tv show. the actual novel of The Clone Wars I didnt buy and never will. Same with Gambit and the other The Clone Wars novels that take place after the animated movie
Don't be fooled with A New Dawn. I had the same fears like you about Rebels and A New Dawn, but the book is great and the show is surprisingly good too for what it is. And this is coming from someone that can't stand TCW (yep, that's me )
I was almost wondering about that. It's disappointing, though, because they won't fit in with all of the previous novels. I hope they aren't going to start changing the originals around now too.
A size change in the paperback style? Sigh... Well, at least it'll be easier to differentiate my canon and Legends novels now, I guess? Honestly, though, that's probably why they did it. SW paperbacks have been mass market size since the early '90s. It only makes a certain amount of sense that they'd change the style to differentiate, I guess.
Consider spicer's post seconded. I suspect it'll be a long time before we see AND equaled, never mind surpassed.
That's what I was thinking. I don't care if they match since, really, they don't go together anyway. At least they're not skipping right into $14.99 trade paperbacks (yet). Well, they're still mass market width, just a little taller. I wish I knew the actual publishing term. And yeah, it's a perfect two-in-one chance to raise prices while separating the lines. And to be fair, Bantam and Del Rey spoiled us on PB prices relative to the rest of the market--ours stayed $5.99 after $6.99 became common, then it took quite a while to go from $6.99 to $7.99, etc.
I'm wondering if they'll be putting original short stories in any of the paperback releases. That only started to bother me once I caught up with the new publications--now that I'm buying the hardcovers, I don't want to double-dip, but I want all the stories...
