I consider myself an unironic supporter of the Empire. By 9 ABY non-Humans were allowed to serve. By 12 ABY non-Humans were in the Empire's leadership. That same year the Empire made peace with the Rebellion. By the 40s the Empire had democratic elections. In 138 ABY Imperials proved that they would not bow down to the Sith. I think the Empire became a perfectly respectable system. I'd say it's a very optimistic message from the EU and not "fascist apologia" as some fans paint it. A society recovers itself from tyranny. What a disgusting message! Like Darth Vader, the Imperials redeem themselves.
