A new Padme Costume?!

Has anyone seen this one yet?

hasn't that one been in the trailers? Is that the one that lucas designed or when she is packing?

 

J_S-I've seen this pic before. We've actually talked about it here. I think the general consensus is that this may be an EpIII dress and not AOTC.

EDIT:Definitely don't think that's the one of her packing. The hair is similar, but it is a little different(doesn't have all the shiny stuff). I think the dress(what we can see of it anyway) is different. And the one GL designed her hair is tightly pulled back and has that headband(the silver one going around her forehead.)

Let me just say WOW This is a great costume!!! Looking at the whole thing, it could possibly be the Senate dress. Hopefully this will not be cut as it has been rumored to be.

 

I think the second pic goes a lot farther towards proving the senate theory. Look at the background.

 

It figures that the one costume of hers that I really REALLY like probably won't be in the film. Grrrrrrrrr.
What a pity -- this is a really fabulous gown.

I really dont think so. I see Padmé as wearing not so intreiquet(sp) dresses in Ep3. Since the clone wars are going on and stuff, and padmé will be preganet, i think shes gonna wear simple dresses/pants in EP3. remember, the republic barly exists anymore in EP3. Padmé wouldnt need a senete gown...

Wow! This dress is gorgeous! It's design is making me lean back to AOTC! In The Art of AOTC on page 22 it reads:

While Queen Amidala's Episode 1 costumes emphasized traditional Tibetan and Mongolian designs, Lucas wanted the now-senator Padme to be attired in regal, Elizabethan finery for the new prodution.

The illustration that accompanies this text bears a strong resemblance to this gown, however it goes on to say:

Dermot Power gave Lucas exactly that in this early costume design. "This image wasn't used in the final design, but George came back to it during the process because it was so striking," Doug Chiang noted.

I will try to get my scanner up and running so I can show you the pic I'm referring to. It really looks like a concept sketch of this dress. But, if it wasn't used in the final production, then where?

I also took another look at the graphic novel last night and...

throughout the senate appearance scene.

I will say that this new gown reminds me heavily of an Elizabethan inspired dress, and it totally resembles the sketch in the art book. But, the graphic novel shows her in the other dress and the art book says this new gown wasn't used in AOTC but that George came back to it.
My head hurts now.........

 

I dunno about you guys, but when I look closely at this picture, it almost looks as though Padme is pregnant. I mean..the dress flares above the stomach, it looks like she's trying to hide it or something. But maybe that's just me

I doubt very seriously that she'll be pregnant in this film. But that would just about be the biggest shocker of all time. I see what you mean though AZ. It does look as if she could be pregnant.

 

Oh I agree. I'm sure she's not pregnant in THIS film...but if this dress is indeed from Ep III like some people were saying...*I* think it's a possibility.

I could almost SWEAR i saw this dress in the Art of Star Wars book today at the book store....

 

Looking at both pics side by side I can definitely tell that they are the same dress. I really like the back. I just have one question, if it's not the dress worn during her Senate appearance, where would she wear it?
