Apparently we can't say "mofo" now. [face_plain]

    Your reasoning is faulty.

New things keep getting added to the "do not say" list.

Maybe we shouldn't be allowed to say crap, because it means the same thing as the S-word?

I agree with the Adminstration. Since mofo is just an abreviated form of mother ******.

I think there's still an acceptable use of "Mofo," and that's when naming the third track of U2's album Pop, which happens to be called "Mofo." That kind of usage and context seems fine to me.

You can't say "WTF" or "MILF" either. How is this different?

    Amazing.

See, look how many other people knew exactly what it meant. And when I edited it, you were using it to mean just that. I know it, you know it. Bob Dole knows it.

I can only assume what it means, and since it isn't kindly, it's better we use different words more acceptable to the rest of our 123,893 registered users here.

Personally I think it should be allowed, as should WT*, MIL*, etc. It's a euphemism.
EDIT: But frankly this is beating a dead horse now.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

Well, we already addressed those and Josh closed the issue. Only discuss the one brought up in the initial post or we'll have to lock it.

Banning "mofo" would be a slap in Sam Jackson's face.

Sam Jackson would first be warned if he posted that here and then banned if he did it again.

Going by that would allow much worse things to be said since pretty much any banned word you can think of is in a song title somewhere.

    Sapes,
If we want to use Mofo but star it out, do we need to use 5 stars? Or would 4 stars be ok?

None, because the implication is there. How about find something much nicer to use as a derogatory term. There are hundreds of potential candidates.

Saint, I think you really ought to call MoFo and make a case out of just how unjust our site rules are.

And while you're telling MoFo about the evil unworkable rules of Tf.n, tell them that my MOFO Power Akoustic speakers quit working and the store won't take them back and I need legal advice on the matter. I suppose it could be worse, though, at least they're not FUBR!

I really am disappointed that my MOFO's aren't working, because I was all set to join NetPlay's MobileForces for some real surround sound fragging action. :_|

Ok, so if we can't say that, what about things like shiz or 'that's the shizzle'?

Surely you know what those mean, and that they refer to vulgar terms, but they're also part of popular culture. Even Old Navy says "My shizzle's gone fazizzle!" :p

While I would never utter anything like that outside of this post because I'm a white chick like Fran Drescher, and it's lame for me to say, I was merely curious about the rules surrounding "shizzle".

To repeat what that bigwig MoFo said, "'The issue we had was if we knew it had this other implication,' said Small, now senior counsel. 'Some people at the firm claim we didn't know...'"

Is it too hard to accept that evidently like bigwig MoFo's everywhere, Tf.n does know of "this other implication" of the word? I mean, it's not too unreasonable an expectation to have.

I don't know and it would depend on how it's used. I'd look at each occurrence on a case-by-case basis.

You! No having fun in comms! ;) *laughs that annoying laugh, just for effect*

    Sape . . .

Usually it's used to mean that something is awesome, but in Fran's case it would have to mean the swear word, I think.
