Sorry for not reviewing very much, but I have been very busy!

I really like this story and I can't wait for more (and I can't wait for the Vader/Anakin 's appearance ).

 

This is getting more fun to read as it goes on. Talk about all twisted up!!!

I can't wait to see what you come up with for Han and Leia as the story progresses.

Well, the escape went much better this time around... although that makes sense.

It's interesting how you've taken aspects of Vader's character and split him into Mara and Kyle.

And if you kill off Wedge, Wes, or Hobbie, I'll... I'll... stop reading!!!

Well, someone has to! In the original Leia had Han and Luke semi-competing for her... but since Luke is now out of the running (for good reason) I had to come up with someone else and Wes just seemed like he was up for the job!

GreatOne - Mara doesn't seem to get along too well with the other Imperials... hmmm.
Yeah, for the most part... but there are exceptions to everything...

Wes got to have Han's line, about the Princess and a guy like him?
*now I must find a way to kill Wes, so he doesn't come between Han and his soul-mate*

No... and for good reasons. However, there is a bit in this next post that is a bit telling at how the relationships between the Hands really are...

All the pilots have the hots for Leia. Somehow, that doesn't surprise me though.

That's a good question... I mean, he's always been jealous of Luke into ROTJ before the "he's my brother" confession... could I really drag this out until then?

Chapter 8

?I?m afraid Captain Solo that while I would like nothing better then to compensate you for your resent role in bringing my daughter safely here, we do not have the funds to pay you at this time.?

From the moment Han walked into the office of Padme Skywalker, he felt awkwardly unworthy. The time he sat in the waiting area gave him the chance to remember all the details that he could of the former senator and queen. She had been young, but powerful, and that air of prestige filled every inch of the room.

She was also very beautiful, almost as beautiful as her daughter.

?The unfortunate death of Bail Organa,? she continued, a note of regret in her voice, ?has left much of our monetary funding in chaos.?

?I understand.? Han scratched at the back of his neck, trying not to squirm in his seat. He really did need the money to pay off Jabba, but it didn?t feel right to demand it of a group of people who had just lost so many friends, family and allies. What had happened at Alderaan was a cruelty beyond anything the Empire had perpetrated before.

Silently, Han wished the Rebels every inch of luck in their quest to rid the galaxy of Palpatine?s rule.

?What I would like to do, captain,? Padme leaned forward and smiled lightly, ?is offer you the equivalent value of credits worth of precious metals and other valuable items.?

?Sure, that would be fine.? He wasn?t going to demand anything from the Rebels, but if they were offering he wasn?t going to pass it up.

?Then I will have someone bring the items to your ship in a few hours.? Padme stood and Han quickly jumped to his feet as well. The rebel leader came around her desk and offered her hand for Han to shake, which he did so gently. ?I want to thank you again for aiding my daughter and her friends.?

Han was about to make some flippant comment about how he was only in it for the reward and he was saving his own neck as well, but the woman?s serious gaze seemed to bore into his soul. He could only salvage his ego by saying, ?It was nothing.?

?That?s how a great many things get started, Captain Solo.? Padme led him towards the door. ?They start with nothing, then become something.?

Han could only nod in agreement to her as he exited the office into the pale gray hallway. Now he knew where Leia got her self-assurance and leadership qualities. Strangely smiling to himself he headed back the way he came, surprised that he, an outsider, wasn?t being escorted around and watched for any sign of treason.

?Captain Solo.?

Stopping and turning slightly on his heels, Han saw Leia?s blonde haired, blue eyed boyfriend walk up to him. ?Luke, right??

?Yeah, sorry I didn?t get a chance to speak with you earlier in the hangar.? Luke gestured down the hall and the two began walking. ?I wanted to thank you personally for what you did.?

If someone thanked him again, Han felt like he was going to scream. ?Well, I was offered a hefty sum.?

?Yes,? Luke said thoughtfully. ?Did that get all sorted out??

?Yeah.?

?Good.? The two of them stopped and leaned back against the wall as three rebels came through with huge boxes in their hands.

?Security seems to be rather lax around here,? Han offhandedly commented as they continued on.

?Well, with the Death Star?s approach we have too many other things to worry about.?

?Wait,? Han stopped the kid, ?the Death Star is coming here??

?Our spies has reported it in route,? Luke sighed solemnly but kept a determined look about his face. ?It will be here before the day is out.?

?They were tracking us.? Han looked away, afraid to see the truth confirmed in the younger man?s eyes.

?Your Wookie companion found the locator beacon while you were talking to m??

He was cut off as an announcement rang throughout the compound. ?All pilots, report to briefing area of the main hangar. All pilots, report to the briefing area of the main hangar.?

?Well, I got to go. The Death Star will be here soon and we?re going to have to be ready for it.? Luke

Interesting post. Enjoyed Mara's thoughts on what happens to the Hands once they become Darths. Although, now I have to worry about the fact she's going to be on the Death Star itself during the attack.

Also liked the way you portrayed Luke's dilemma about killing all of those aboard the Death Star. The battle is bound to have a very different dynamic with Luke heading into the trench first.

Looking foward to more.

Ooh good post! Loved the ANH lines you threw in there between Han and Lukie, and Wedge....and Han thinking Lukie is her boyfriend, LOL! COuld he GET any further off...

Loved also Lukie's concerns for blowing the Death Star here, poor boy. Smart of them to ask him to make the shot, maybe more lives will be saved that way among the Rogues.

Can't wait for more!

?I can?t seriously believe that they are all as evil as Palpatine, his Hands, or even Tarkin.? Hey, Mara isn't evil! She is just confused!!!

I honestly pity Luke... he is so honorable...

Just as Darth Elu was now a shell of her former friend, so would Kyle become that day.

It's nice seeing a more mature, conflicted Luke. He wants to help, but might not like the cost. Seems his words to Mara affect him a bit too.

 

I would also like to voice my approval for conflicted!Luke. I mean, I know he's all young and excitable in ANH, but you would think he would have some scruples about killing all those people.

*Sigh*...I have a feeling not all of our pilots will emerge from this conflict unscathed. You're not going to kill Wedge, are you?

I can understand Luke's plight, but what else can be done. You don't destroy the Death Star then aren't you just as responsible for the next planet to be destroyed. It's choosing the lessor of two evils and I think Luke will have to learn this. Wonderful as usual.

 

First: Is Han going to believe Leia is Luke's boyfriend for the whole 4 years till Battle of Endor? Now that would be funny.

Second: Is Luke going to be blown out of the sky first time round, or is Red just making time convenient by having the Death Star blown up first time round?

 

Ooo, interesting storyline. I like it.

I thought it kinda awkward hearing exact lines from the movie coming from different characters' mouths; but I liked where you have some of the movie lines adapted for the situation of the character who says them.

I always felt that wasn't explored enough in later movies and books. You would think being the one to kill millions would have some effect on his psyche.
