Princess_Shari: I can't believe that you're having a sook about people who are just having fun roleplaying with a Star Wars theme, isn't that what these message boards are for?

Just a few examples of fellow STAR WARS FANS, who decide to respond to the roleplaying conversations in a fun role - (also like previous conversations with PoT) Rather than trying to gather the power of many (by cruel abuse) and hoping we will leave the boards cold-hearted. Why do people whinge so much about people having Star Wars fun. I'm suprised some people haven't cried about the send-up of Star Wars A New Hope we've been portraying.


If you're a true Star Wars fan, how come you rarely post abouttopics directly related to Star Wars?

Both you and Mixo(?) seem to really get into the whole SW roleplaying thing, which is great because you provide a refreshing perspective to the SW saga.

Yeah, we respect freedom of speech and all that, but most threads actually on Star Wars die pretty quickly... that's life. On the other hand, I welcome anyone here (hell, I'm new myself) it's just the arrogance which accompanied the arrival with boards on how the two of you have supposedly changed the boards for all of us. Maybe a little more subtlety???

 

Roleplaying is fine. I haven't dissed your Story thread yet, have I?


Anyone who's been around here for a while will tell you that I have no interest in creating conflict. In fact, I've been trying to stop this petty newbie/oldbie rivalry ever since it started. Roleplaying is great fun, but don't make it personal. We're all Star Wars fans here, I'm sure most of us can have intelligent conversations without resorting to insulting others.

Could you stop telling people things like "We the new order are free thinking and flexible.", "Accept it young Padiwans" and other things like that?

It gets on my nerves. Really on my nerves. I don't get angered much, hence my username. But somehow, you are making me quite agitated.

If you stop that, I might be able to like you.

Well, I apologise if I've insulted anyone... I know it's all in the name of good fun and role playing...

DarkJediTJ says sorry as well (with puppy dog eyes... they're puppy dog eyes, come on! you have to forgive him now! ) if he's insulted anyone. Oh yeh, he's having com. troubles so he can't get on

 

I'm not sure whether the people in this forum understand the meaning of role-playing, so I took the liberty of looking it up for you all:

What surprises me the most is that most of the people who chat in this forum have been here a long time, and yet none of you seem to have experienced role-playing. I'm sure that if you had, then you would have realised by now that Mixo and Lute are trying to create imaginary common enemies for you all SW style. Perhaps you should have explained to them that SW role-playing doesn't happen around here- because you're all too busy trying to create your own version of The Monday Dump, or organising dates for people.

If I sound cruel then I'm sorry, but if it wasn't for these guys then I never would have signed up. It wasn't just that they seem to really enjoy SW and things related to it, but more the fact that it was obvious to anyone except you people that they were just trying to have fun, not out to get boards like,"Who thinks Mixo and Lute should SHUTUP!" made in their honour. And you all wonder why you've been personally attacked since.

To the people who did apologise to them, Good on ya. Perhaps in the future you will learn not to take them so seriously, and perhaps even have a bit of fun throwing SW style threats back and forth. However, for certain people who DEMAND that Mixo and Lute stop calling you all young Padiwans and such, and they MIGHT LIKE them (*GLARES AT SENATOR*), then you should learn about treating other people with a bit of respect. You all expect outsiders to respect you Huggards, so stop acting as though you're better than everyone else on this forum because of it. And besides, I'm sure that they will be able to sleep at night without being liked by you all.

Finally, in the words of LordVaderFF,"Freedom of speech is freedom of speech". If you don't like what Mixo and Lute are doing, then don't join in. But don't try to wreck it for the others that do.

You haven't met PoT, have you?


A couple of points:

-This is not technically a role-playing board. This is, in theory, an extension of a real life organisation. We organise meets here and have fun. Role-playing threads are perfectly acceptable, but the entire forum is not dedicated to being "in character", as such. There IS a Role-Playing Forum for those of you who want to join it, however. Ask PoT for details.

-Just a little history about some of the threads and slang used here: the "Huggards", as anyone who has been around for more than a couple of months has been labelled, all joined at vastly different times and were all newbies at one point. The whole Huggard thing is making fun of an acquaintance of PoT and JE's, which we are always ready to do because we don't take very much seriously here. The Formal thread is another example of that - a thread created from a comment I made somewhere else that I probably should have refrained from saying. If you read through that thread, you'll notice fairly quickly that it isn't exactly a serious dating thread. Once again, we are making fun of someone, in this case me. Don't take yourself too seriously here, but respect others and everyone will have a good time.


That said, long live Huggard!

Princess_Shari, I have not made any demands at all. I only made a simple request. I should have rephrased "I might be able to like you." better, though I admit. I apologise for that.

Also, for the matter of respect, when I first began to post again few days ago, I was greeted by comments such as this: "Senator EAK you should use your own voice to choose an icon, not bleat like a sheep!", in this thread. I take that as a slight against my personal being.

Also, as Hawk said Role-Playing threads are acceptable, but please don't do it throughout the forum, which lead to my previous post. I try to get away from Role-Playing by coming here, since I am a major proponent of the largest RPG on the Jedi Council Forums. But I came and saw this, I was not very impressed.

Okay guys, I'm going to be serious for a moment, because I sense all of this tension between the old and the new guard, and I now regret not having formed a thread adressing the issue before hand.

Okay, a couple of words on this matter. Note: What I say will be constructive criticism, and in no way reflects my personal opinions of any posters or any bias you may see me as having. These are basically facts.

Postulant 1: The Terms of Service are steadfast and concrete, and when I did criticise certain members of these boards, it was because they were not acting in accordance with the TOS.

Postulant 2: As stated above by many, there is in fact a Role Playing Forum on the JC boards - I am one of the more senior members and the original group who petioned the JC to open it for us. I can and will induldge in a bit of Role Play and would gladly help any of you get involved in this forum. But, unfortunately, to post a Role Play here is SPAM, as it is not "on topic".

Now on this point, I don't see a problem with it as it allows us all to interact and have fun, surely the aim of these boards. As long as it abides by the TOS, and LVFF is fine with it, I'm quite happy for it to stay. But behave with it!

Postulant 3: I do not enjoy and I outright condemn the actions of certain posters who have come to these boards, and decided they have a gospel right to criticise and "flame" other users. If you have a conflict with someone's personality, try and resolve it with maturity and poise. To on one hand tell us of the "Huggards" as you - I hope lovingly - call us, that we treat you without respect and talk down to you, and in the same sentance condemn as with foolish and unintelligable remarks concerning all manner of things, is hypocrisy defined.

Arrogance is fine, as long as it does not become overbearing and 'inforced' upon others. If you try and differientiate yourself from the others in this forum, you are working against the grain of EVERYTHING this forum is for: unity, community building, socialising and fun. Try and make friends, not enemies. Some of you, are trying to deliberately INFLAME conflict and incite division within this board, which is a bannable offense, and if I see examples of it again, i will PM LVFF to take it to a higher power, and if he doesn't, I will. Flamming and trolling are bannable offenses - read the TOS if you disagree - and if equality and peace for this board I and others have worked endlessly to build is only preserved by such action, so be it.

Postulant 4: Some of you have - despite my posting on numerous occasions, that I am willing to help them integrate themselves here, help with any problems, and an offer to PM me - decided to take me on personally. I don't mind this, I like a bit of fun, if it is all in fun. Some of you have made it personal, and snidely remarked that we have nothing better to do then make versions of "the monday dump" and "dating threads" for others, thereby belittling my threads directly and therefore me. This too, is a bannable offense, and I will be expecting a quick and contrite apology or I will take it further.

I have offered to help, and you have decided to mock all that we offer, and all that we built.


If anyone has any problems with what I have just offered to you all, then PM me. I will keep all PMs private, so you can be as profane and direct as you wish. But keep these boards clean.

And to the new user who I will not name, who also has a sock masquerading as a new user and who backs them up and does their more overt dirty work and comments, I do have evidence of what your doing and I will take it further if you don't desist. Read the TOS, "deliberately misleading users into believing you are someone else" is a bannable offense, and again, I know many, many moderators who will take exception at such behaviour..



Toe the line, and stop playing the victims. I have had my rant, and I hope we can be more positive

O.k, on hindsight my previous message was plain mean, and for that I'm am truly sorry, especially to Senator,PoT and anyone else that I may have offended in my ranting.

The point which I was trying to get across was that everyone is entitled to have fun in their own way. If people are seriously being offended by those guys, then you have every right to take it to a higher level, but from what I've seen (and I admit, it is probably very little and I may not have seen the worst of it) it just seemed to me that they were being dissed for trying to rile you all up.

As a newbie myself, I had no idea that there was a roleplaying forum, which just goes to show how much I've explored this site. But thankyou PoT for pointing it out and I might just take you up on the offer of helping me get involved.

I think what it comes down to is that these guys are trying to annoy all of you, and they must have succeeded as this thread wouldn't exist. From here on out I plan to steer clear of this line of conversation (backing them up), but that doesn't mean that I don't stand by my opinion, which is that everyone should take them less seriously. If you ignore them long enough, then they'll probably get bored and go away, it just seems so harsh that they continuously get attacked when you could play their game back at them. So I promise to stay out of fights in which I am not involved in.

Once again, to anyone that I deeply offended, I am truly sorry. I hope that everyone involved in this debacle can put it behind them and become friends.

I think that would be in everyone's best interests. A bit of drama every now and then is never a bad thing, but in the end everything works much better if we can all post here without getting into too many arguments. Thanks to Shari for being big enough to apologise, though you haven't really done much. Remember, this bickering inside our own FanForce is useless. We need to remind ourselves of who the true enemy is: FFNSW. j/k

Is it true that I am thought of as a sock to another on these boards? Or am I reading into PoT's rant wrongly? Are you accusing Mixo of logging in under myself, just to have another on his side, or someone else entirely? I am guessing you believe it has something to do with me (as you are posting in my thread). Anything I've said is because I believe it. Not something someone else has said.

If you want to accuse someone of using 2 login names and backing themselves up, look to DarkJediTJ, not me. Congratulations Huggards. Another fine mess you've made of these boards. Keep to you're tight LITTLE group. Your attitudes towards every other Star Wars fan will keep it that way, I'm sure.

For the record, every single person who has come to these boards has been welcomed, yourself and Mixo included initially. If you read the entire thread, you might even notice that nobody wants this pointless arguing to continue. The reason you and Mixo were suspected of being the same person is because you had similar IPs. If you use the same ISP, then that would explain it. Stop thinking in terms of "us" and "them", we are all Star Wars fans and we all just want to have fun here.
