I don't think Sidious was mocking Yoda. In fact he was putting more emphasis on Vader being more powerful than him since Vader turned. In fact when Palpatine says these words, he says them gladly. If he would have said YOU WILL BECOME A POWERFUL SITH then it would have been less gratifying for him when saying it.

The way Sideous said that, it sounds more like Anakin will the new weapon. The wall that the opposition will have to get through. There is a certainty to the statement instead of optimism. *You will become a powerful Sith* sounds like a hopeful thing. The other statement sounds more like Anakin has had the Dark side all pent up for along time and is just waiting for the opportunity to wipe out everything in site.

This is just further proof that Yoda used to be a Sith, perhaps even Plagueis himself, leaving the Sith Order and becoming a great Jedi.

If he really talked like Yoda, he would have said:

A powerful Sith, become you will.

This goes back to an old thread that existed a while ago that dealt with the fact that Yoda may have more knowledge of the dark side than we know. Ex. Why is he the only Jedi that can deflect force lightning and throw it back? Why does Sidious' head look so similair to Yoda's after the attack (hair peeled back, arches in the forehead)? etc. I still believe there is more to Yoda than we know, which is why there has never been an official history drawn up on him.

Here's a theory: All the EU explains how the Sith were off shoots of the Jedi that went bad, but I don't deem anything official until Lucas says it.
What if the Sith were the original forcebearers and the Jedi were born from it? What if Yoda was originally a darkside user who went good? Wasn't darkness first in the universe before light. Didn't space proceed the sun?
It would make the Jedi that much more noble if they sought to elevate the force out of the "darkness". Thus the attack on the Sith and make the Sith's revenge even more stark. It makes sense if you really look at it and it would line up the similarities between Yoda & Sidious (archaic speech, etc.) perfectly. It would also explain how they were able to create life and maybe even how Anakin was born.
