I want to see if there's any credit to a theory my father has. When you first heard about Star Wars did you, or anyone you know mistakenly think it was a Star Trek movie?

I was 8 years old in 1977 when I saw ANH in a theater for the first time. No way did I think it was a Star Trek movie (and I watched ST reruns every chance I got.

My mother said that she heard it was "kind of like Star Trek but it was a little more violent."

But she let me see it eventually anyway. :)

I saw "Star Wars" in 1977, not "A New Hope". I saw "A New Hope" a few years later. :p

But no, I did not think in any way shape or form that Star Wars was related to Star Trek. And yes, at the age of 11, and having an older brother and father who were "Trekkies", I was well aware of Star Trek as well.

I was only 4. I don't recall having any knowledge of Star Trek at that point. When I did learn about Star Trek, I knew it had nothing to do with Star Wars.

I was 7 when Star Wars came out and I also watched a lot of Star Trek so I knew it wasn't the same thing.

No. SW was SW. ST was ST.

The first memory I have of this thing called "Star Wars" was when I was looking through a newspaper and saw an ad for it, showing a picture of an X-Wing.

I knew immediately it wasn't Trek.
