Is the star wars holiday special and the ewok adventure considered cannon? And thus a important chronological part of the epic star wars saga?

Well, Kashyyyk is mentioned first in Holiday Special.

    As for Ewoks, sure.
I'd like to see the grown up Cindel Towani and Jedi Luke have their adventures together as a new series.

Mind's Eye is included in the NJO's continuity list, but there is no way it fits.

    Slimy!

Splinter fits, but there's a a healthy amount of Continuity Spackle(tm) applied ;)

The Ewok movies are c-canon and have been referenced elsewhere in continuity (Cindel, for example, cameos in the Black Fleet Crisis as a holonet reporter).

The Holiday Special is probably one of the rare s-canon sources that is only partially part of continuity- many elements and characters from it are used throughout the EU (Kashyyk, Chewie's family, the Life Day holiday, the Boba Fett cartoon events, etc), but I think certain things from it are either not canon or chalked up as incredibly strange holonet entertainment ;)

Neither are g-canon, despite Lucas being involved with them.
