In the empire strikes back, theres a scene towards the end of the film where prior to gaining his new hand, Luke sports a kind of mediacal device on his stump.

Does anyway know what this is?

    What is it called, etc...

I want to include the device in some fan fiction i'm writing you see and i want to reamin as accurate as possible...

    Heres the clip on youtube:

The SW equivalent of a tourniquet.

Not sure what the offical term is though.

    you're correct sir :)

official ESB figures from the 1980's call it a "Bacta Tourniquet"

    It's probably a bacta-pumping system.

Bacta is a "synthetic chemical" which "can heal grievous flesh wounds" and which must be "constantly filtered and revitalized." {STAR WARS Visual Dictionary, 1st ed., p. 29]

    Hope that helps!

EDIT: The official script for ESB calls it merely a "protective cuff" [Premiere Move Script Library, p. 130]. There is no mention of it in the Technical Manual.

Also, a minor correction to an above post: The action figure names for it were from the 90s and 2000s, not from the 80s.
