Why did the Empire even bother sending out ties after the millenium falcon left the death star, Were they intending to destory it? why would they do that? They need the falcon to find out where the rebel base is.

 

It was a token group they figured would be destroyed. They sent them to make it look like they were trying to destroy the falcon for escaping. They didn't want the rebels to know that they were letting them go. Han fell for it, Leia did not.

Ben's duel with Vader wasn't action packed enough? Sure its pale in comparison with the DOTF, but still!
