Here's a bit more - nearly done here, maybe another part or two. Thank you for reading!
    ******
He turned to her. Her face was pale.

“You know what happened to her. She’s sitting here with me”, he said.

    “I – I’m your…. Your daughter?”

He reached for her but she stood up.

“You knew! You knew the moment I came here! Why didn’t you tell me?”

Ben, why didn’t you tell me? How well he understood Obi-Wan now.

“I was afraid if I shocked you I might hurt you but as time went on I felt I had no choice. You were five the last time I saw you….”

    “Then why don’t I remember?”

“There’s a block on your mind.”

    “A block? But how….”

The dream…. Her mind drifted back to the dream she had had. The woman asking her forgiveness.

“Katia…. She had…. Did she have a scar? About here”, Rey asked, tracing a spot across her collarbone.

    Luke nodded slowly.

“She…. She left me! She did this to my memory!”

    He could only nod.

“How could my mo-“, she stopped herself and Luke flinched. She could not bring herself to call Katia her mother. “How could your wife do that? Why didn’t you look for me?” Her voice was harsh, full of pain, loss and anger.

“I did. I looked for both of you”, he said, his eyes pained.

“She left me there to die!”

“No! She would have given her life for you. She loved you more than anything. I know that.”

“Well maybe you didn’t know her as well as you thought”, Rey said, turning and walking away.

    ******

The little girl peeked into the doorway of her parent’s bedroom and smiled. They were both still asleep. She tiptoed on silent feet and climbed up onto the bed, convinced that she wasn’t making a sound. Her eyes lit up as she saw neither of them stir as she crawled between them….

    “You’re a little early today.”

    “Daddy!”

His shoulders shook with barely restrained laughter as he rolled over and smiled. “Good morning Kira.”

“I was so quiet! There was no way you could have heard me!”

“I didn’t hear you”, he said.

“One day I’m going to sneak up on you!”

“Never happen”, he said shaking his head. “I always know when you’re around.”

“You can feel me with the force?”

He nodded and Kira pouted for a moment before her thoughts turned elsewhere. “Can I go with you and Artoo when you work on your x-wing today?”

“Sure, don’t see why not”, he said. Kira smiled with pleasure.

Her mother stirred beside her and opened her eyes. “Hello”, she replied, yawning and reaching an arm out to Kira. The little girl hugged her. “Hungry?”

“Yes!” she exclaimed, bounding out of the bed and hurrying toward the kitchen area as her parents sat up.

Luke turned to Katia and reached up to stroke her cheek tenderly. “Good morning”, he whispered.

“And to you”, she replied, sliding into his arms as he kissed her gently.

The moment was interrupted by Kira’s return to the doorway. “Aren’t you coming?” she asked before turning away and hurrying off.

“She got you there”, Katia said, laughing.

“I was distracted”, he said, grinning. “But don’t tell her.”

    ******

Kira climbed into the x-wing seat and lifted her father’s helmet. The visor came too low since it was too big but she didn’t mind. She liked to pretend.

“Artoo one day I’m going to fly and then you’ll be my co-pilot!”

    The droid beeped nervously.

“Daddy?” Kira called out to Luke from where he worked on the underside of the x-wing doing some routine maintenance on the fighter.

“Yeah”, he said, struggling with a stuck component that finally came loose.

    “When is he getting here?”

Luke paused in his work for a moment, his brow furrowed in concern. “Should be a few days. Remember what I said, OK? We have to make him feel welcome.” Leia had been worried the last time she spoke with him and he was also though he’d tried not to show it.

“Doesn’t Ben want to be here?” she asked.

“I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t want to be here”, Luke replied. “We’re far away from his home so he might be a little homesick.” He closed the panel, finishing his work as Katia climbed down, pausing a few rungs short of the bottom of the ladder to do a backflip to the ground below.

“I’ll be extra nice then”, Kira said, taking his hand as they walked back to the temple. It was his metal hand and Kira smiled as she looked at it. Her dad was special – she didn’t know any other dad that had that.

“That’s good”, Luke said as they walked. “How’s your practice with mom coming?” Katia had told him but he knew Kira wanted to tell him herself.

“I made the ball move yesterday! All by myself!” she smiled up at him happily. “And know what?”

    “What?”

“I have another loose tooth”, she said, grimacing as she reached into her mouth to wiggle it.

    Luke chuckled.

    ******

He woke with a start. In the past dreams of Katia and Kira had reduced him to tears of grief and misery. But now… now he had his daughter back. His daughter who he had believed to be dead along with his wife. His wife….

He had to try to talk to Kira again.

Here is the ending - thank you for reading! :)
    ******

She slept. It was a fitful, restless sleep; brought on by the exhaustion of tears. Though her body had given in to fatigue her mind was still active.

“Who is it Mama?” she asked as her mother landed the ship.

“Someone who can’t find you”, she replied, taking Kira by the hand and leading her down the gangway.

“I don’t see Lor San Tekka”, Kira said. The older man was like a benevolent uncle to her. Her mother and father had told her she would stay with him for a little while – she wasn’t sure why but something was wrong. Her mother and father were worried though they tried to hide it, just like her mother was worried now. They had had to split up, her mother taking her to Lor San Tekka alone. This meant trouble to Kira. It was always the three of them – her, her mother and father.

“I’ll come back for you sweetheart”, her father had told her when they’d left him.

Her mother looked around nervously, turning to the sky and searching the horizon for the ship that was following them.

“There’s no time”, her mother said.

Someone was after them, after her mother.

They approached the small town and her mother stopped, hugging Kira tightly and kissing her hair. “Stay here. I’ll come back for you.” Kira was frightened now. When she looked up at her mother she saw that she was crying.

    “Forgive me”, she whispered.

Before she could ask what her she meant her mother rested her hands on either side of Kira’s head. “You will forget”.

Kira felt the strangest sensation…. As if her mind were going blank, empty. And then…. It was over. When the woman kneeling next to her stood up and Kira looked at her she had no recollection of who she was. She couldn’t even remember her own name.

The woman was talking to a great, hulking alien. She was asking him about someone named Lor San Tekka and if he knew her and if he could bring her to him. The woman was afraid. She kept looking around, looking at the sky. She doesn’t want to leave me with him, she thought.

The man asked for payment and the woman pulled off a bracelet and a ring she wore and handed it over to him. But it wasn’t enough. The woman thought a moment and then reached for the metal cylinder she wore on her belt and handed it to the alien.

The deal completed the woman backed away slowly, not wanting to leave. She watched the woman’s face change though as if sensing danger was near and then she began to hurry to the ship. Even as she ran she kept glancing back at her.

She did not know who the woman was but as the ship lifted off and the alien held her arm and told her to be quiet she could not stop herself from calling out, “Come back!”

    “Kira!”

She came awake, tears streaming down her cheeks, sobbing. She looked up to see her father kneeling before her his face concerned. Throwing her arms around him she cried against his shoulder, letting him hold her.

“I remember….” She gasped, the memories flooding back all at once – the five years she had lost. “She was taking me to Lor San Tekka.”

“There was a threat made on the temple. I stayed behind while she took you to him. We knew he would keep you safe until the threat had passed. It was a trick though. I don’t know what for but nothing happened – not until years later.”

    With Ben.

“We had reached Jakku but someone was following us. Mama lost them but she could feel them coming. There wasn’t time for her to bring me to Lor San Tekka himself.”

“When I went to see him he told me you weren’t there and he hadn’t seen Katia.”

“She wiped my memory and then gave me to Unkar Plutt. She didn’t want to… but she was desperate – she didn’t want me with her when…. When whoever it was found her. Mama…. Mama was crying…..”

Luke felt his heart breaking all over again. Katia….

“He was supposed to bring me to Lor San Tekka but he lied. He took Mama’s bracelet, her ring and her lightsaber as payment. He bartered them off, put me in the care of one of the old women and then set me to work scavenging. I was small and I could get the best parts from the graveyard of ships by fitting into small places where the grown-ups couldn’t. I never went near Lor San Tekka’s village so he wouldn’t have seen me.”

“I found her things and her lightsaber on Jakku. They were with one of the scavengers. Ben was with me. He paid to get them back. When I saw them…. I couldn’t feel you or your mother. I thought the worst”, Luke said.

    “Why couldn’t you feel me?”

“The wipe on your memory must have affected your presence in the force”, he said.

“Mama….” She whimpered. “It was my fault. Mama died protecting me…. You lost her because of me!” she sobbed.

“Stop”, he said. “Stop. It’s not your fault Kira. None of it.”

“Mama – could Mama be alive? You thought I was dead and I wasn’t….”

“I can’t feel your mother’s presence in the force but she’s never come to me. I’ve told you sometimes when people die they become one with the force. I’ve never seen your mother.”

“Then she could still be alive also!”

He held her, almost afraid to believe. Could Katia be alive?

    ******

    Ten years ago…..

Kylo Ren stood in the cavernous room. “You sent for me Supreme Leader?”

“Yes. I want you to escort two prisoners to a holding facility.”

He looked around but saw no one. The room was empty save for two large rectangular blocks that stood in the center of the room. He walked slowly toward them, a feeling of dread seeping into his blood. He stared down at the first block and froze.

It could not be. Surely she was dead.

“I see you recognize our guest”, Snoke said.

He stared down at the figure frozen in carbonite, speechless. He and his uncle had searched for her and Kira. His uncle thought she and Kira were dead. Kira…. Supreme Leader did not mention Kira.

“She – she is alive….” He breathed.

“For now. You will escort Rieekan and my other prisoner to the facility. They will be kept there until you are ready.”

    “Me?”

“In my weakened state I could not probe Rieekan’s mind. She was too powerful. She carries a secret – one even you do not know.”

He was puzzled. What secret? If not Kira then what? She was his uncle’s wife but Snoke knew that. The daughter of General Rieekan. What more was there?

“When you are strong enough you will probe her mind and discover what is there.”

“She is of no importance”, he said, unsure what was making him defend her. “Just an infatuation of my uncle’s due to his weakness.”

“Perhaps… and perhaps not. One day when you are as strong as your grandfather was you will find out.”

    “And this other woman?”

“An old protégé of mine who refused to obey me. She will remain in this state for now also – she may prove useful to me.”

Kylo stood looking down at the first woman.

“Do I sense some…. Melancholy in you? After all…. She was your aunt….”

“No Supreme Leader. She is less than nothing to me. I will find what is hidden in her mind and then…. She will die.”

Even though I write about twisted darksider minds as well, it gave me a shiver to read this particular conversation between Kylo Ren & Snoke. How cold & uninterested they are in another person´s fate and life.

Superb conclusion and very plausible details and a definite hint of hopefulness about Katia... [face_batting]

Thanks to all who read and commented! I definitely need to think about how the next story will go from here. I'm also considering writing Katia's mother's story at some point which would involve Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Rieekan. I especially enjoyed writing little Rey (Kira here). In the part where she creeps into her parents room and fails to surprise Luke I kept hearing the opening notes to John Williams' "Rey's Theme" from the TFA soundtrack. :)
