    some of the write up:

    Enter the British Mil. L2A3 Sterling Submachine Gun developed by G.W. Patchett, toward the end of WWII in England. It was the new and improved replacement for the STEN WWII model. The Sterling became standard British issue in 1953... used by senior NCOs and officers. It was also used by airmen on escort duty during the 1959 EOKA conflict in Cyprus.
