If the links are down, could be that Decipher or Lucas Film might not have wanted them up. Although Decipher is having it's problems these days. Don't know how much time they have to worry about copyright infringement at the moment.

It doesn't appear to be a licensing issue, just a technical one. Someone posted on the Decipher boards that Dan B. from Decipher says the archives will be back up as soon as possible.

hi all. First time seeing this thread, but I thought I'd chime in. I live what i've seen so far, though admittingly, I need another couple runs.

I've been making Dream Cards for a long time, and though I haven't since Ep2 was put on DVD, I've still got the passion (reworking a lot I've done, rearranging sets, etc). I have visuals if anyone would like to see, but I rather not post here (I've experienced trouble starts that way) so, give me an IM and I'll hook you all up =)

well, just to try and keep this going, I got a new DC done:

    Name: *Bravo Escort 1
    Type: N-1 Starfighter
Icons: Scomp Link, Pilot, Republic, Astromech
    Deploy: 2
    Forfiet: 4
    Destiny: 3
Lore: Flew lead escort to Senator Amidala en route to Coruscant. A Veteran pilot from the Battle of Naboo ten years prior. Doesn't like having his picture taken.
Game Text: Permanent pilot is *Captain Dolphe who provides ability 2 and adds 2 to pwer and maneuver. Once per battle may cancle one opponent's weapon destiny draw. Immune to attrition <4.

I want to mention the picture aspect in the lore is NOT canon, no is the ship name.
The ship name I got from just logical deduction that since naboo is a peaceful planet and has been stated as NOT having a large force, that the n-1s were simply bravo flight n-1s from the battle. So the name just stuck.
"Doesn't like having his picture taken" I made up since the character has NO Databank entry on the official site, No entry in the NEGtC, and isn't even seen in the movie. I got his name from the novel.

So, I made do with what info was out there.

It's not dead yet, just been kinda idle for awhile as I haven't had the time to devote to it that i used to. I will hopefully be able to pick back up at some point in the near future.

Hmm, read a few pages in. Dooku seemed to be getting some conflicting opinions.

I've made a Dooku With Lightsaber already (before knowing of this thread).

    Name: *Count Dooku With Lightsaber
    Type: Dark Jedi Master
    Destiny: 1
    Deploy: 7
    Forfiet: 9
    Power: 6
    Ability: 7, Dark Jedi
    Icons: Ep2, Permanent Weapon, Warrior
Lore: "As you can see, my Jedi powers are far beyond yours."
Game Text: Adds one battle destiny if with Obi-Wan or Anakin Skywalker. Permanent Weapon is *Dooku's Lightsaber (may target a character or creature for free; draw two destiny; target hit, and it's forfiet = 0, if total destiny > defense value).

I know some said he should be power 7?? I disagree. He was old, and though powerful indeed, he was simply taken as a quick relpacement to Maul, not fully trained. He was a Jedi Master before leaving the order, which is why he's ability 7 and generates a Force, but I do not list him as a Dark Jedi MASTER, just to show he's not the master in the group.

Obviously, I don't have a normal version done yet. Also, I agree there should be a version a Darth Tyrannus version, hwoever, it is STILL the same persona. It's how the gameplay works that makes them different. Have him ignore any opponent's cards that target "Dooku".

Also, as mentioned about Anakin and Vader, dealing with personas...They are the same persona and shouldn't be allowed to be on the table at the same time.
However, Anakin is a special situation, and I think maybe we should go back and get the Ep1 versions and mechanics done, so you can see where to go from there. Also think about how to handle him and his turning in Ep3. Once you got that, well, you should have the rules for handling him =) You should be able to convert form Light to Dark, etc (I've made a... generic Epic duel for this).
I know this was compared to Palpy, but unlike Vader, Palpy makes sense. Just because WE know storywise who Palpy becomes, the good guys don't. And palpy is hiding this secret. and he's playing the dual role.
Anakin isn't hiding a secret that he's evil. He really is a good guy. And he doesn't play both sides. Once he becomes Vader, that's it. He doesn't hide he's Vader.

    Just some more imput =)

Oh, and for those who'd like to see the work I've done:

    Card_Dreamer,
Kinda a shame you weren't around when we were in full swing with card development. I know we were seriously getting into editing the game text for HOTR when Decipher essentially pulled the plug. 2ndQuest has always been the manager of game text related decisions. My forte (as least as I see it) was putting the cards together. :) That's where I had the most fun.

I wish I had been here =) I think we could have really gotten the set into shape and pumped out! =)

I've been hoping this thread/projectect would pick up again, but between 2ndQuest being so busy, and you as well, it seems there goes pretty much 2 of the backbones of the thing..

I've started my own DC thread though, and Jedi Jeff and Artie have been very helpful. Hopefully it can grow more...

Well, I think 2nd Quest is the key to restarting this project. Hopefully issues relating to my personal life will be getting better in the weeks to come. I've always loved the Star Wars Universe. The opportunity to create and work with images from that genre has been tremendous fun.

I've taken the time to look at a great many of your cards and I will tell you, that you've also been having a great time working with them. They look great. The key to any expansion (s), however, are not just the images, but the gameplay that goes along with them. Managing that is not something I could ever do.

Hopefully, 2ndQuest will find the time again, as well as Shewski, Bib Pappa Jabba and the many others who contributed their ideas. Your input would be amazing coupled with many of those who worked here during that summer in a galaxy far far away : )

Well, I'd certainly would be honored to help, but I guess it'd be fair to warn you, I'm a stickler =P I very much try to uphold traditional Decipher.

That isn't to say I don't try and do new things, such as the Lighsaber Forms, traffic sectors, or little bits here and there. But I try to maintain the...status quoe as you will. For instance, I HATE the V cards. Never liked them. I think they disrupt the balance of the game.
However, I don't let the personal hatred cloud my judgement in so much as, I respect those who do like them, and I certainly try not to contradict them. I keep up with them to see what's new, but, there's very few I think I'd actualy play. But meh. That aside, when it comes to the symbols the PC has created for Immune to Alter/Sence/Control, the Pilot/Power icons and others, I refuse to use them on my cards. It's just me though. I think the more symbols used in the GT for phrases, the more unbalanced a card can easily become...course, it isn't just the V cards..I don't do upkeep cards either... =p
Defensive Shields are anothert thing you'll see I don't have any off, but that isn't because I'm against them. I'm just not sure still how they work, or what makes for a good Defensive shield Card. I was thinking for when I'm done with this set I'm doing, hosting a contest and allow fans to pick 6 cards (3 from each side) to turn into Defensive Shields.
I'm also a stickler for getting GT terms and such right, getting the correct names, and making sure the cards reflect what the image is about, etc.
Sounds like I'm a prude, I know, but I'm a nice guy =) I'm just a loyal fan who tries to do right by the game. If after that, I'm still wanted, I'd be humbled to join =)

Card_Dreamer: It would be great to have you on the project, it's obvious you put a lot of thought into the cards. :)
I like the idea of keeping the game mechanics true to the Decipher Star Wars CCG.

I'd have to disagree on the assessment of Dooku's power, though. :) His age is not really of any consequence. He's
obviously a very renowned Jedi Master, extremely powerful and deadly in a duel. As we see that Obi-Wan, himself a
very accomplished swordsman, knows he can't handle Dooku by himself before ever having to duel him. Even though
Obi-Wan has never met him before, he knows of his abilities by the sheer reputation that Dooku holds as
a dueling master in the Jedi order. That speaks volumes of just how powerful Count Dooku is. :) I think
that next to Darth Vader he is the most dangerous foe that the Jedi must face.

Not being able to post the images for the cards openly on a public site is not really a big deal, just circulate
the images between those that need them to get the cards ready. Once they are ready for play, the fans can
download the completed cards any number of ways. :) I'm really looking forward to seeing the HotR CCG
expansion set ready for full play testing. :)

The2ndQuest: Can you give us an update on the HotR set? Card_Dreamer certainly has some great ideas for
cards for the HotR set. :)

The two quotes below both come from Restrainingbolt, I think. But I'm not sure which is the correct font
that Decipher used. Anyone else have any ideas on what font Decipher used in the Star Wars CCG? :)

"I'm pretty sure Decipher used the exact same font. It's Helvetia Extra Compressed,
Helvetia Condensed Bold and Helvetia Condensed Medium"

"I've been told that the Decipher Fonts are versions of Fiorello.
    In particular ATFiorello-Condensed."

Hi I would love to see any of the cards anyone has made . I started to play & collect Star wars ccg Dec 1995 & have all but 2 Japanese cards . I still play 1 or 2 times a month although I try to play more if posible . I have tried other card games but none have lived up to the SWCCG . To me a card game is a card game no counters or anything that is not on the card that is just one of the great things about the SWCCG . I have been looking at trying to make some cards keeping true to the movies books & the Game . I find the hardest part is what to put in the text as sertain characters starships & weapons in the movies & the books are much more powerful & have more facites than most of the cards in the game . Where do you draw the line ? Can anyone answer this Question ?

    Thank you .

The image files were taken down awhile ago at Decipher's request, so the links are all dead, basicly. Publicly, after that point, all work was done on a text-only basis, in a manner similar to the virtual cards.

That last step of work completed was a playtesting stage for the first expansion:

So Decipher still has a problem with people making card images, even though the license has been gone for so long?

I remember there was a site a while back that did graphical cards, but they came up with their own template for the cards so they wouldn't tick off Decipher. Did anyone ever think of doing that?

Anyway, I'm glad I found this again. It's always cool to see people come up with ideas for what might have been. Has anyone ever done anything for ROTS?

I have a text file with details for some of the Star Wars CCG cards being worked on for The2ndQuest's "Heart of the Republic" Star Wars CCG fan expansion pack. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send it over to you. It would be great to get this cool Star Wars CCG set play tested and ready to go. :)

What are some of the Star Wars cards that have been most recently tested for this "Heart of the Republic" Star Wars CCG set? :)

Does anyone know if Decipher still has a problem with their templates being used for fan made cards?

Because I just had an idea for dream card images. There is a program for making Magic and VS System cards. I was thinking, what about finding some way to make the VS System template work for Star Wars CCG? It isn't nearly as good as the actual templates, but I kind of like having an image to go with the card idea. If I have the time I might give it a shot. I think it would involve a lot of things becoming keywords instead of icons, like "Warrior" and "Pilot" and so on. Power could go where Attack is, Ability where defense is. Then if there is something like armor, you could have that where defense is and then specify the ability number in the game text.
