The post-game festivities were a sight to see. Hearing Kevin Millar yell "Cowboy Up" and then break into his rendition of "Born in the USA", watching Nomar do his lap around the field tossing hats to the crowd, even Manny got into it by waving a big Red Sox flag for a while.

WE MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!

 

Several Red Sox players ended up serving drinks in a bar - in uniform.

Yankees lose Game 1 against the Twins at home with Mussina on the mound [face_shocked]! This series will definately be more competitive than the critics are giving the Twins credit for.

Sox lose, 5-4, in 12 innings.

 

The poorest management of a gane that I have ever seen.

1- should have pinch run for Ortiz in the eighth

2- Never should have yanked Timlin for BYK

3- Never should have yanked BYK after he settled down and had just stuck someone out

4-Never should have let Damian jackson bat in the 10th with 2 on and the score tied- not with Merloni on the bench.

5-Never should have let Lowe close- he sucks in the clutch(that's why he's no longer a closer), plus, he's not used to jumping in a game so quickly anymore- hence the walks.Now, his fragile ego has been rocked, so even if he's ready to pitch again physically on saturday(which is a question), he's mentally not right.

 

I stayed up last night for the whole thing. All I can say is that I wouldn't have walked that last guy to load the bases up. Thus the bunt and loss. Oh well, we'll take them in 4!

 

What is going on? I thought that the Sox had the most powerful offense in all the majors? They've only put up 5 runs compared to the A's 10 ! The pitching wasn't all that bad but they need to get the bats working if they want to get to game 4. Not too worried about Saturdays game though, Lilly has an ERA of 16.20 from his only appearance in Fenway this year.

The big man David Ortiz is the hero of the day!!! A two-run double in the 8th to give the Sox the lead and the awsome job the bullpen did today kept the Sox alive. I can't wait to watch tomorrows game.

THE SOX HAVE MADE HISTORY!!!!!!! The first team to go from 0-2 to 3-2 twice!!! Pedro was awsome, Manny came alive, and Lowe was the savior! We're going to New York for another great post-season series with the Yankees!

Let's also not forget Johnny Damon. I know I speak for all members of The Nation when I say that he is in our prayers.

 

My god, nothing is ever easy. The play with Damon was one of the worst things I've ever seen on a baseball field.

 

And the replays! In slow motion they went down perfect sync together, over and over...
