Oh, and by the way, you might have noticed - the have made a reappearance. They're currently back for a trial period, after which they may be removed again or we may decide to let them stay. Most likely, there will be a poll after a while (in a couple of weeks, perhaps) to get users' opinions of the , which will factor into our discussion on whether or not to keep them. However, the result of the poll will not automatically be the decision that Mod Squad reaches.

Also, Grimby would like me to point out that the caused some drama and made T.O. cry.

We're very sorry for upsetting Mr. Owens, who we think is actually upset because he was reminded that he will no longer have a on his jersey. This is actually a good thing though, for nearly all involved.

The details in the MS portion of these updates are getting thinner by the week (after a good period of coverage a month or two back). Pity.

ASG's thread was locked in Comms (and there was definitely more to be said on that matter), and we were told 'much discussion' was happening... repeatedly. Yet nothing mentioned in this update!? So, was discussion really happening and were you not mentioning it in this update for a reason? Why? Or were we being paid lipservice again? Why?

Please don't make me start nagging again. :(

Also, fwiw, I think a new forum for a single videogame is ridiculous (look around the rest of the boards - a single forum for one piece of SW EU? What?) , but that's just my opinion, and will be happy to be proved wrong on that one.

There was a delay (for a few reasons) between this one being compiled and it being posted here - it was compiled before that discussion had started, so mentioning it would have been rather difficult. It'll be in the next update.

The idea is to try and become one of the main TOR forums in the Internet. Just looking for new legitimate avenues to generate traffic. It's worth a try.

What about players of the other two SW MMOs? (Galaxies, and rumoured Clone Wars) Will they be afforded the same sort of love?

SWG is an established game with an established culture. We don't have a chance to be there "from the start". Who knows, maybe we missed the chance back then! And the CW game so far is just a rumor. We'll see what comes out of that.

As for the rumoured CW MMO, I think just the fact that it supposedly would be a "casual-user MMO" pretty much rules out the idea of an exclusive board for it. Casual gamers don't really dive into forums to discuss their games.

i think that if TOR takes off like i hope it will, a new forum solely for it will be the best. if we can get a new user base dedicated to the game, we'll need that so regular gamez doesn't get destroyed by ****TOR GUILD**** and ****LETS PARTY UP AND TAKE ON A BOSS**** threads. we'd have to have a separate forum for it to maintain the sanity of both new and old users. mmos, in their very nature, have to be much much larger than traditional games. they'd have to require a unique forum for any amount of serious discussion.

I think you're taking the 'casual' tag too literally. I see it as an MMO that players don't need to grind in to progress and have an enjoyable time. Also, the (average) age of JC users is creeping ever upward where the 20 or 30 somethings outnumber the teens, and a 'casual' MMO could be right up the established user's alley. With families and other real-life distractions I've never been attracted to signing on to a SW (or any other) MMO. This may be an appealing alternative (though I will admit CW isn't exactly old-school SW fan timeline). If the older established users find a casual MMO appealing, then there must be a way to tap into the rest of that community to attract them to the JCC?

I'd happily join a browser based SW MMO as a casual chat and dicking-around experience, but not join one as some sort of time-intensive serious game. And I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way. I'd not dismiss a 'casual' SW MMO so readily, to be honest.

I agree, wrong reason to dismiss it, but a CW based MMO by Sony still doesn't exactly scream playerbase magnet. ;)

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not dismissing the game. What I'm dismissing is the need for an exclusive board for that game's community. There is even some doubt if The Old Republic can generate enough traffic to warrant its own board, so a casual-gamer CW MMO would almost certainly not generate enough discussion that it couldn't be dealt with in the Games board.
