I did notify John Conger (the store manager) that Chicago Force's book club would in all likelyhood be in attendance...

It is always awesome to see the book club there...

and any one else who has a canon costume...
just let me know if you would like to costume the event..

Hey all,

I moved here a few months ago from Texas where I was trying to get a fanforce chapter going. I'm planning on being at the book signing on the 25th and would love to meet some of you there. This is the first time I'm posting on the Chicago fan force forums, so I'm hoping to get involved with you all. I'm a 23 year old guy with not much of a costume right now, though I can show up with a lightsaber and clone wars shirt, haha. Would anyone be interested in meeting up, saying hi, and possibly planning some future events while there? I think it'd be great.

 

I guess it hasn't been too clear from the recent discussion, but to come out and hang out a costume is NOT required. A bunch of us will be representing in our Chicago Force t-shirts, with nary a robe or armor plate in sight.
And if you look below, you'll see the Errant Venture thread, which is the name of our bookclub. It's many, many pages, so does look a little intimitdating if your new, just check out the last page for the latest talk about the club, which is going to meet in the Schaumburg Barnes & Noble next Saturday.
We also are on Facebook, and send out event invites that way. In fact, this Saturday we'll be at Blue Frog in Chicago to indulge in the ancient art of karaoke. Check out the Pass the Mike thread for details.

The best part is always Chicago Force Book Club asking great questions at the Q&A portion of the event...

the costumes are just there for atmosphere...

It is the book and the Book Club that are really important!

 

There's going to be a Q&A? Is that what's at 7:30?

 

Usually the booksignings go like this:

Author arrives shortly before 7:30 PM -
(Matthew Stover was late the last time he read/signed because he got tied up in a traffic jam)

Author will do a reading from the book...usually very short
Author will speak about writing the book - challenges, working with Lucasfilm, possibly future projects.

Q & A period

Books are signed


That is usally it...

 

so plan on getting there early and on staying there late so as not to miss anything

 

You got the drill Ed...

I have asked my contact if we can get some photos with Mr. Allston with the costumed people before the signing...because with Troy Denning...the signing went very late...and we never got a group shot...so ...Ed..just make sure you are suited up and at the front of the store by 7:00 PM....I will probably be out there early...
and yes...
you will be using the room behind the cash register to change...I am guessing it would be a good idea to be in your body suit when you arrive...

In the "marching order" - you (Ed) are right behind Mr. Allston...because...as you know...you are the tallest of the Stormtroopers...

For the new folks...I will be one of the Rebel Fleet Troopers...I never wear Stormtrooper when Ed is around....lol...he REALLY makes me look "too short for a Stormtrooper"...
