This has been known for awhile. Infact you can find a bunch of free books on baen's free library service. I dloaded doc sidhe awhile ago, to my palm pilot and will read it some time, to see if I enjoy it.

I got my cheapy palm pilot free when I upgraded to windows XP last year. It's one of those $90 models.

I think there are like $400 color models out there now.

The great thing about this download link is that you don't need an e-book reader, you can select to download the .rtf format, and view in a word processor such as Microsoft Word.

    Gatherer,

    Thanks for the info.

I have a Palm IIIxe (same as the III, but with 8 megs of ram)

Anyway, for those who want free books for your Palm or other handhelds, checkout the Gutenberg Project. They have thousands of copyright free stuff available. I downloaded Art of War and Sleepy Hollow.

I can't remember if I discovered the e-book first or if I actually purchased it first. Regardless, I am not disappointed I bought a book I could read for free. It's a good book, and its sequel is even better. As for buying something that can be found for free, what can I say? I'm one of those who likes to hold a book in my hands and take it with me places. I find that extremely hard to do with an e-book, and I have no interest in printing the thing out in its entirety just so I can have a hardcopy. Anyway, I do recommend reading it in some form.

On a somewhat related note, people who buy the book are also helping Aaron Allston stay in the writing market. I'd hate to see another good author feel no other recourse but to appeal to his fans in an essay.

It's been given out for free in hopes that either people will go and buy a hardcopy and then buy the sequel for themselves.
