MN Abd my first act will be to create a grand army of the Republic to counter the Seperatist threat..

Well, I've gone and done it: I was sworn into the army a month ago. I leave for basic Jan. 23.

Basic isn't so bad you just have to have the right mind set.

When I went through it I just keep my thoughts on No matter how bad it got it was over in 8 weeks. keep your chin up and your mouth shut as much as possible. The drills can be tough to deal with but just remember though it may seem personal it is not. They are just doing the job.

When I finished basic there was a problem with my clearance. The paper work had yet to be sent. Since I was going to the Intelligence school for my AIT I couldn't leave until that paper work caught up to me. So I ended up staying at my Basic Training place for 2 weeks. Just me and the Drills. Well turns out once the course was over these were the nicest guys you could know. I had graduated so I was no longer a Trainee. They BSed with me.. went to movies.. sure I got stuck doing a lot of what would have been their between classes chores but such is life in the army when your the only privet in a group of Sergeants.

Anyway my moral is.. I made it through and no matter how bad it may seem you will make it. As long as you don't try to fail they wont let you.


BTW where you going? I had basic at Ft. Lenardwood MO in January of 1990.. Really sucky weather. I hope your going somewhere warmer.

For 4 years I lived 25 miles away from Syracuse. That was Auburn, NY... right around the Finger Lakes area.

Umm... not sure if I'd recommend going out of your way to go to Auburn, though.
