About Eclipse (SBS Possible spoiler if you haven't read SBS)

I want to have a precision about the Jedi Base in SBS

Eclipse is a planet, a moon or a vessel?

Has it some relation with the destroyers who appears in Dark Empire and Empire End?

It's either a planet or a moon... I believe planet. No relation to the ships in Dark Empire. The Jedi scouts were looking for a new base in the core in Rebirth, and they found Eclipse.

Et effectivement Eclipse est située sur une planète, dans les 'Core Worlds'...



In fact, the destroyers we saw in Dark Empire were almost all destroyed with the explosion of Byss, the Emperor's throne world. But actually I think Eclipse is near the remains of the planet... That's only speculation, though...

But it seems to me there would be a great symbol if the JEdi begin their new rebirth and reconquest from the Core, where before the Dark Side was so present.

 

Well, I meant on one of the remains of Byss... There must be a big enough piece of rock, big enough to be called 'planetoid', that could allow the installation of a base...

I was wondering about this too. I'm currently re-reading SBS(I read it too fast back in Oct to get every little detail). Thus far, they haven't specified moon or planet, but I get the feeling of a moon, or even a large asteroid, like the one with the space slug in ESB. They had issues with breaches, and had to wear space suits, so if it is a planet, there's no atmosphere. Seems like they'd go with a moon or asteroid over a planet like that, smaller and harder to find. Maybe someone could try PMing Denning about it, he used to come around here...

Um, Carida was destroyed in the JAT, IIRC..

Yes, but what you're thinking of is a station in the nebulae created by the explosion of the Carida system. Han & Leia had a rendezvous with Booster, but he didn't show up, and they were approached by a fringe guy, who asked them to help him transport refugees, whereas in fact he was transporting voxyns. SBS, Chapter 4.

That clearly ain't Eclipse !

 

Beside isn't cardia on a trading route i think the jedi would be discovered preaty quickly

 

Didnt they say somewhere in teh book that ecplise is on an asteriod, and thats why theyve had all those problems with the tmeperature and stuff? Its in an asteriod field...

Sorry to bring this old thread back up, but I finally got a some definite answers. I was re-reading SBS, and there's a reference to Eclipse as a planet, shielded by an asteroid field. It's on the first page of one of the later chapters, not sure which. Also, I had success with my idea of PMing Troy Denning. He says that he visualizes it as a planetoid, bigger than an asteroid, but not big enough to have it's own atmosphere or for it's gravity to form it into a sphere. Hope that satisfies everyone.

I thought the Jedi had to abandon Eclipse due to the captured yammosk that betrayed its location to the Vong?
