If I remember correctly, suicide bombings have been used against Israel since 1993. By my math, that makes it 12 years, or spanning 2 decades.

The Tel Aviv Lod Airport massacre occured in 1972, and that attack involved a suicide grenade bombing, in addition to the terrorists using automatic weapons.

Disregarding Mr44's point for a moment, who refered to "several decades"? The post you replied to only said "decades".

Even if we use 1994, that comes to 1.1 decades. The plural form of the word is appropriate because you only use the singular in the case of exactly 1 of the item (in this case decades).

So, grammatically, and factually, decades is the proper term.
