yeah, but whaddayagonnado? The thing with these kinds of decisions is that people will compalin if GL does it, and people will complain if he doesn't. To be honest, I can live without these. I have DVD-rips of the widescreen American laserdiscs from the early 90s.

Those might not make it to New Zealand ... I'm still waiting for the clone wars cartoon DVDs. But as far as the unchanged versions go, I haven't watched the originals since 98, so won't be buying them on DVD. The picture is grainy and the sound is far below dolby digital, plus the old Ewok song kinda grates. I feel, for the most part, the revisions have been improvements.

They'll make it to NZ, without a doubt. They also cleaned up the original print quality at the start of the SE remastering process, so they won't be all washed out and grainy.

as Kitt says, it's very weird that the Clone Wars DVDs aren't available locally. I guess th show didn't get a terribly big push here, but surely _someone's_ gonna buy it, right?

Has it been released in PAL format anywhere?

It was released in Australia, as I've seen it on online DVD stores there.

    Yea Right.

Oh, sorry, was that too cliched?

They'll be expensive when VHS players are no longer made and all in museums. So give it 10 years. ;)

I think these are out nexst week. Anyone going to partake? I think the DVD-Rs ripped from the old US laserdiscs will do fine for the time being. Can't really be bothered buying the OT again, especially when you just know there'll be a boxed set of all six films sometime in the future, right?

They're in stores now. starwars.co.nz says the warehouse are selling them for $28.49 and k-mart for $24.90. Here they are at gpstore:

    http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Search/?a=dvds&q=Star+Wars+limited+Edition

I'd imagine the main people buying these are casual fans who only want to own one to two of the movies on DVD, and so weren't willing to fork out for the boxset. I wouldn't mind if they released the Indiana Jones series as single discs. Speaking of IJ, the UK Empire magazine has an Indiana Jones tribute issue out.

Depending on what sort of player you have, and where in NZ you are, you could try Borders Bookstores. They're connected with the Amazon website, so could have an easier time getting them in the country.

I will get them because I can watch Han shoot first, Sebastian Shaws face, good jabba song and awesome yub yub end song. Unfortunatly they are a poor print from the laser disc with no restoration work and in 2.0 dolby you cant win with Lucas.
