Help with Star Wars Acronyms and any other that are hard to guess.

Examples:IIRC, LFL, BTW, JA, b/c, TJK, UQ, LOTF, and others.

I am not very good at guessing them.

I can get like GFFA, ROTJ, ROTS, ANH, LOL, GTG, and thats about it.[face_monkey]

...not sure if you're serious, but "l33t" is gamer-speak for "leet", using the 3's as E's somehow... I guess they're supposed to be backwards... however, "leet" means "elite"... like, I'm better than you at this game, making me one of the "elite"... however, gamers simply don't have time to ridicule you in English, so they have developed a sub-language using numbers and letters. So, the short, simple "elite" becomes the gamer-speak "l33t". I hope this has answered your question. ;)

I always consider IIRC to mean "If I remember correctly."

    Other acronyms/abbreviations:

BTW = "By the way..." unless I'm totally missing something.

In Star Wars, there's the abbreviation BHW, which means "the Bounty Hunter War."

I've assumed IIRC to be for "recall" myself.

    >>LFL: Lucas Film Liscensing<<

I think this more often stands for Lucasfilm Limited.

    >>JA: Jedi Academy: The game <<

This can also stand for Jedi Apprentice, a young adult book series.

    it's not "Idiots I remember crushing"? ;)

another handy one is TOS. it's either "The Official Site" (www.starwars.com) or Terms of Service (which you signed when you set up an account).

It was a common typo of owned, much like "teh" and "the".

I think it became popular because it's just fun to say. Try it out in real life sometime. You get some funny reactions.

Or maybe I'm just too much of a computer geek. [face_plain]

    More acroynyms:

    IMO = in my opinion
IMHO = in my humble opinion
IAWTC = I agree with this comment

then delving futher into l33t-speak.. thers newb: the least contemptous term for someone new, then n00b, usually reserved for a lame or particular stupid newb, then the kicker sn00b which is reserved for the guy that camps and TALKS ALL IN CAPS.. or screams in Xbox Live..

then theres ROFL: Rollin on the Floor Laughing
you can add MAO: Laughing my A-- off.
for ROFLMAO, or they can be used independantly of each other.

0wn, 0wn3d, Pwn, Pwn3d.. all mean the same thing.. i usually use the p for a particularly brutal owning.

Don't we have in one of the stickies (the one dealing with archiving classic threads) an older thread with a very long list of acronyms used here? I think the list was compiled by 2ndQuest and had at least a hundred different acronyms.

Well, here's a link to the **** What Every New Literature Forum Member Should Know *** (New to this forum? Look here first!)[/link] thread. Gandalf (aka Raven) posted a long list of acronyms on it as part of the initial post of the thread. Not who I was looking for, but most certainly an extremly helpful list by one of our former admins.

GFFA means Galaxy Far Far Away (in other words, the Star Wars Galaxy). It also refers to the government that replaced the New Republic at some point in the NJO. I'm probably mistaken, but I believe in that sense it stands for Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.

    TTT- The Thrawn Trilogy
    DE- Dark Empire comic
DEII or DE2- Dark Empire II comic
    JAT- Jedi Academy Trilogy

Ok, let's try that link again. Especially as it appears I left out a part of the markup code that I'm positive I added.

What Every New Literature Forum Member Should Know (New to this forum? Look here first!)

And now I know the problem after previewing itthis time to make sure there would be a link. When there are astericks in the title, remove them and the code should work. Had the astericks in and it looked like I left out the initial part of the code again. So I may well have done what I remembered doing but the astericks got me a good one.
