I think people like Lawrence Fishburne, Chris Pine, and Jennifer Lawrence are too closely associated with other franchises to really fit in SW without taking you out of the story a little bit.

Maybe I'm off base, but I would be trying to wrap my head around "Morpheus is a Sith Lord!", or "Captain Kirk is also _______ Skywalker" the whole time. Not saying it's impossible, since Gary Oldman was able to have one foot in Harry Potter at the same time as the Nolan Bat-Trilogy, but come on, he's just a badsass.

    Idris, I really want him.

But yeah might want to avoid characters who already have signature movies especially recent ones. Talking Lead actors only

Maybe this has some relevance with Chris Pine (although I would disagree, he has not been around long enough to be typecast), but NO WAY the others.

Fishburne is way too awesome of an actor to be typecast, Matrix was not even his best or most noteworthy performance. He is the type to be believable in anything, to morph into any character; he would RULE in Star Wars.

    J. Lawrence is perhaps the top young actress right now, she already was nominated for Best Actress in a movie outside the franchise you speak of. She could morph into a character different enough to make you forget about The Hunger Games or X-men, guaranteed.

If you haven't yet, you should watch Fishburne in some totally non-Sci-Fi roles, he has an awesome presence in ANY movie; watch Boyz in the Hood.

Watch Jennifer in Winter's Bone; she's amazing.

I have a feeling we are going to see actors from episodes 1,2,3 mixed with 4,5,6...

Yul Brennor would make an amazing criminal underworld type.
Circa 1990 Tim Curry would do an amazing smarmy senator.
Circa 1982 Tom Cruise would be a cool Jedi apprentice.

However it needs to be done, I'd love to see Gary Oldman in the ST.

I don't want the "hottest" actors working today, I want the best actors. Actors and Actresses who can truly blend into a role, ala Ewan Macgregor.

I second Sean Bean. Give him another death to add to his reel.

Yeah I know he is known for comedy, but he is reverential to SW and also a good writer himself. I picture him as a reluctant hero like a Henry Jones Sr. (not at all physical but more bookish). I don't know, there's just something about him. Also the prequels were bereft of any humor (besides fart/burp jokes), and were missing the "fun" of the CT.

Remember that Michael Keaton had only done comedy movies before Batman '89 as well, but he was an actual actor, so I don't think that should eliminate actors known for comedy, which is different than comedians as actors (Sandler, Chris Rock, Ray Romano, etc.)

You know, I was expecting to tell you were nuts no matter what reason you gave, but reading what you wrote I can totally see it now. Dead serious.

How about we just put Dice Clay in Episode 7? That way we have a comedian that is alive. Or maybe Cat Williams?

    Gary Oldman
    Josh Holloway
    Eddie Redmayne
Jennifer Lawrence (for some reason, I think she would fit in really well)
    Idris Elba
